How Mirror Isles reflection puzzles work
Order of the Sinking Star is a puzzle adventure with more than one thousand handcrafted puzzles, according to its Steam store listing. In Mirror Isles, you navigate a top-down arrangement of islands and swap places with your reflection. The key is to predict where the reflected figure will stand when you activate the mirror: walking farther from it can change the landing position.
Mirror Isles 1: four islands, one mirror
Use these visual landmarks to confirm you are on the matching board: you begin on the middle-right island; the only mirror is northeast; an empty island is northwest; and the exit is on the large southern island. Start from a reset room matching that layout.
The following route was published by Kingy, which attributes it to a gameplay recording by Joric posted June 17, 2026. The recording’s build is not identified, and Kingy says the steps were not independently tested in the native game. Treat it as an observed demo route, not a confirmed solution for every current version.
#1 Best Overall
- Walk right across the starting island until your reflection stands on the northwest island. Activate the mirror action.
- Walk left to the west edge of that island. Confirm that your reflection is on the large southern island, then activate the mirror action again.
- Walk left across the southern island, then go up onto the yellow exit.
The cited recording shows the starting room at 0:08 and the completion state at 0:15. See Kingy’s Four islands, one mirror (Mirror Isles 1) for its board diagram and route attribution.
Pale Orange Star Puzzle: hints before a route
A Steam Community discussion offers a hint ladder for the “Pale Orange Star Puzzle.” It does not provide a complete move-by-move route, so use the prompts in order and stop when one is enough to make progress.

- Notice the space: Ask why the puzzle leaves so much horizontal room.
- Think about orientation: A right-angled mirror exchanges horizontal and vertical direction. Consider how that changes the reflection’s destination.
- Consider the crystal and water: Work out what happens to crystal blocks when they enter water.
- Combine the objects: Use the stone and mirror to increase the vertical distance between the two mirrored figures.
The original poster said these hints helped them solve the puzzle. Read the Pale Orange Star Puzzle (Mirror Isles) discussion for the community hint exchange.
Two mirrors and a purple stone: community route
Another Steam thread describes a player’s ten-step route for a board with two mirrors and a purple stone. The discussion also notes that more than one solution may work, so treat this sequence as one player’s route rather than a canonical answer. First verify that your board has the same objects and island layout.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Reposition both mirrors.
- Reflect to the lower island.
- Move the purple stone.
- Return and reposition a mirror.
- Reflect the stone.
- Use one mirror to reach the exit.
The thread’s summary does not specify the exact direction or tile count for each move; it is a broad route outline, not a reproducible step-by-step sequence. See What to do in this latest Mirror Isles level? for the original player discussion.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to use these solutions without spoiling the wrong board
- Match the island arrangement, mirror positions, objects, and exit before following a route. A similar-looking room may require different moves.
- For the four-island board, reset first; its published route assumes the stated starting layout.
- For the Pale Orange Star board, try the hint ladder before looking for a full solution.
- For the purple-stone board, use the community outline as a strategy, not a guaranteed exact sequence.
The title’s “Part 1” boundary and the full set of puzzles it includes are not established by these cited guides. The routes above therefore cover only the boards identified by their landmarks or discussion names.
