A community-made PC mod removing SILENT HILL f’s signature fog was reported just before the game’s September 25, 2025 launch. It is not an official Konami setting, and it is distinct from another mod that only thins the fog. “Unsilence” here means stripping away part of the visual atmosphere—not changing the game’s sound.
What the no-fog mod changes
GameSpot reported on September 24, 2025, while PC players had early access, that modders had already removed the game’s signature fog. Konami’s official premise places the story in 1960s Japan, where a thick fog descends on the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka. The fog-free view is therefore an alternate presentation of the setting, not an official mode or a change to the story. How to remove the fog in Silent Hill f
The no-fog modification is a community PC mod, rather than an in-game option. A Nexus Mods community page contains user reports of setup difficulties and cases where the effect stopped working after particular game events or an update. Those are individual anecdotes, not proof that the mod fails for everyone or a verified compatibility rate. Consult the No Fog community page for the mod’s current details and user discussion; the evidence available here does not establish a universal installation method or compatibility guarantee.
No fog versus thinner fog
If you want to reduce rather than eliminate the effect, the separate Fog Optimizer is explicitly described as thinning fog. Its author says it lowers fog density and changes the volumetric fog grid pixel size and Z depth buffer, describing the latter changes as a performance optimization. That is the author’s description, not independently measured performance data.

Choosing a fog modification
- For a fully unobscured view: the no-fog mod is the relevant option, but community reports indicate that setup and behavior may vary.
- For a less dramatic change: Fog Optimizer’s stated goal is to make fog slightly thinner, not remove it.
- For a full playthrough: check the mod page and recent community comments for current setup and compatibility reports before relying on a modification. The available reports do not establish how reliably either option works across game versions.
Is fog removal an official Silent Hill f feature?
No official fog-removal setting is established by the cited Konami materials. Konami’s Patch 1.10 notes, dated November 13, 2025, mention a fix for a Fog Monster progression issue and other changes, but do not announce an option to remove environmental fog. Konami lists SILENT HILL f for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but the mod report concerns PC modding; it does not establish equivalent modifications for console versions. Konami’s product page gives the platform list and September 25, 2025 release date.
