What layoffs has EA confirmed?
On March 9, 2026, EA confirmed selective organizational changes within its Battlefield organization. PC Gamer reported that the changes affected teams at Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect and Motive, and that the number of affected employees was unknown.
EA’s spokesperson told PC Gamer: “We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community.” PC Gamer also described the changes as a realignment as Battlefield 6 development shifted toward live-service support; that context is reporting, not an additional explanation in EA’s quoted statement. PC Gamer’s report does not give a headcount.
Has EA announced another round of layoffs?
The materials reviewed for this article do not establish a further company-wide layoff announcement. EA CEO Andrew Wilson’s August 4, 2026 message to employees discussed the company’s next chapter as a private company and named Cam Weber and David Tinson to leadership roles; it did not announce layoffs. EA’s message is not evidence of another round of cuts.

That distinction matters because later reports describe concern and cost goals, not a confirmed new layoff decision:
- Employee concerns: In an August 19, 2026 report, Game Developer quoted anonymous EA employees expressing uncertainty about job security after the acquisition. Those views belong to the employees interviewed; the report said EA declined to comment. Read Game Developer’s report.
- Reported cost targets: GamesRadar+ reported a target of $700 million in annual cost reductions, including $170 million attributed to “organizational efficiencies.” These are reported financial goals, not a layoff count or confirmation that the savings will come from job cuts. Does EA’s acquisition FAQ guarantee no future cuts?
No. EA’s employee FAQ, issued while the acquisition was proposed, said: “There will be no immediate changes to your job, team, or daily work, as a result of this transaction.” The assurance was limited to immediate, transaction-related changes at that time; it was not a promise that no later job cuts would occur. - The number of employees affected by the March 2026 Battlefield changes was not disclosed in the reporting cited here.
- The reports and company statements cited here do not settle whether EA announced additional layoffs after those reports.
- The confirmed changes described in March were within the Battlefield organization; they should not be presented as a company-wide layoff figure.
For the latest status, look for a newer attributable statement from EA or reliable reporting that identifies the date, affected organization and whether a headcount was supplied. Location-specific WARN filings may also provide notice of certain U.S. workforce reductions, but they would not by themselves establish a company-wide total.
