You obtain it by trading Mohg, Lord of Blood’s Remembrance to Finger Reader Enia; because the same Remembrance can instead buy the Bloodboon incantation, choose your reward before spending it.
How to get Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear
- Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood. He drops the Remembrance of the Blood Lord.
- Visit Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold and exchange that Remembrance for Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear.
The alternative Remembrance reward is the Bloodboon incantation. The weapon reference says a bell-bearing Wandering Mausoleum can duplicate one Remembrance, but its listed methods allow only one of the two rewards per playthrough. Requirements and weapon stats
The reference lists these base values and minimum attributes for the spear. Exact damage after upgrading can vary with game version and character stats.

Its innate blood-loss buildup and the skill’s blood-loss effects make this a bleed-oriented weapon. The reference also says Arcane raises its physical and fire attack power as well as blood-loss buildup, making Arcane a relevant damage stat once you meet the requirements. What Bloodboon Ritual does
Bloodboon Ritual is exclusive to the spear. Its in-game description, reproduced by the skill reference, says: “Raise the sacred spear and pierce the body of the Formless Mother. Stab up to three times, creating explosions of blood with each thrust. This skill will coat the armament with bloodflame for a while.”
Activating the skill raises the spear and creates a blood explosion; additional inputs trigger follow-up thrusts, up to three in the sequence. The skill applies blood-loss effects and deals fire damage. The reference lists a cost of 20 FP and says its bloodflame coating adds 30 flat fire attack power for 20 seconds. - Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear is a weapon in Elden Ring. Trade the Remembrance of the Blood Lord, dropped by Mohg, Lord of Blood, with Finger Reader Enia. Alternatively, use one of the Wandering Mausoleums with a bell to duplicate one (can only obtain one per playthrough using either method).
The skill is most distinctive when you can use its area effect and follow-up attacks effectively. It does not establish a guaranteed number of hits, a particular boss result, or a universal maximum-damage build; outcomes depend on the target, stats, equipment, and situation.
Build and upgrade constraints
- Plan around Arcane: meet the 27 Arcane requirement and consider further investment for the physical and fire scaling and blood-loss buildup described by the weapon reference.
- Account for Strength and Dexterity: you need 24 Strength to wield it one-handed, or 16 while two-handing, plus 14 Dexterity.
- Use its fixed skill and affinity: neither Bloodboon Ritual nor the weapon’s affinity can be changed.
- Do not plan on external weapon buffs: the spear cannot receive spell or consumable buffs. Its own skill supplies a temporary bloodflame weapon buff.
- Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones: it follows the somber weapon upgrade route.
The fixed setup is a trade-off: the spear has a distinctive skill and built-in bleed focus, but does not offer the Ash of War, affinity, or external-buff flexibility available on some other weapons. Weapon reference TheGamer guide

What kind of weapon is it?
The game item description calls it a “Trident of Mohg, Lord of Blood” and says it is “a sacred spear that will come to symbolize his dynasty.” In play, it is a great spear with physical and fire attack power, innate blood-loss buildup, and a unique skill that adds blood explosions and a temporary fire buff. Whether it is the right choice depends on your build and how much value you place on that skill versus the flexibility of other weapons; the available references do not support calling it categorically the best spear or the highest-damage option in every situation.
Fine-grained requirements and mechanics here come from community-maintained reference pages rather than an official FromSoftware reference. Check the in-game values if exact upgraded damage or version-specific calculations matter to your build.
