Yes. Mojang said Minecraft Dungeons’ version 1.17 was its final update, with no new features or content updates planned. The September 28, 2023 announcement said the development team had moved on to other projects in the Minecraft universe. That ends planned content development; it does not mean the game was declared unplayable.

In its September 28, 2023 post, Mojang identified version 1.17 as Minecraft Dungeons’ final update and said the team had moved on to other projects. Mojang’s statement was: “As 1.17 was Minecraft Dungeons’ final update, our team has now moved on to new projects that continue to explore experiences in the Minecraft universe.” The post says no new features or content updates were planned.
Mojang also reported that the game had passed 25 million unique players by the time of the announcement. That is a milestone reported in 2023, not a current player count.
Can you still play Minecraft Dungeons?
The announcement did not say that the game had stopped working or that online services had shut down. It described players continuing to explore dungeons, complete Ancient Hunts, and play the Tower, whose layout Mojang said would continue to rotate. Those statements describe the plans in the 2023 post; they do not guarantee that every activity, online feature, or platform will remain supported indefinitely.

What “no further updates” does—and does not—mean
Mojang’s wording is specifically about planned new features and content after version 1.17. The post does not promise indefinite bug fixes, server or matchmaking support, or continued support for every platform. It also does not say that all maintenance ended immediately. For the status of a particular platform or online service, the announcement alone is not enough to establish current availability.
