MONOPOLY Madness is a Ubisoft video game, not a digital version of the familiar turn-based board game. It replaces the board and property trading with a real-time arena race: players move around Monopoly City, gather resources, buy and upgrade properties, and disrupt rivals. It launched on December 9, 2021.
How MONOPOLY Madness plays
Ubisoft describes the game as a race to take Mr. Monopoly’s place. Instead of waiting for turns, players run through Monopoly City and compete to collect money, water, and electricity. They use resources to acquire and improve properties while interfering with opponents. Ubisoft calls it a “frantic real-time competitive race” on its official game page.
The PlayStation product description lists 20 playable characters inspired by classic MONOPOLY tokens, four environments with multiple levels and layouts, and Community Chest power-ups. These are publisher and storefront feature descriptions, rather than independently tested findings. The PlayStation listing also describes the format with the line “No more board!”
How it differs from classic MONOPOLY
| Classic MONOPOLY | MONOPOLY Madness |
|---|---|
| Players take turns moving around a board. | Players move through an arena in real time. |
| Property acquisition and negotiation center on turns and trading. | Players collect resources, then buy and upgrade properties while racing and disrupting rivals. |
| Play centers on the board-game format. | Ubisoft lists single-player and multiplayer support; available player counts and online conditions depend on the platform. |
Platforms and release details
Ubisoft lists the game for PC, Nintendo Switch, GeForce NOW, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Platform listings are not identical across storefronts: PlayStation describes a digital PS4 product that also entitles the purchaser to the PS5 digital version, while Xbox Wire announced availability for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on December 8, 2021. Ubisoft gives the release date as December 9, 2021. These differences may reflect store configuration, region, or publication date, so check the live store for the version available where you play.

What to check before buying
- Choose the correct platform and confirm the live listing in your region; availability and store entitlements can vary.
- If you plan to play with others, check the player limits and online requirements for that platform rather than assuming every version has the PlayStation listing’s features.
- For PC, compare your hardware with Ubisoft’s current minimum and recommended specifications and make sure you can use Ubisoft Connect.
- The official listings reviewed describe digital game versions. They do not establish a physical edition, printed manual, or game-specific accessory. A standard MONOPOLY board game is a separate product, not MONOPOLY Madness.
