Capcom’s August 12 director’s letter also distinguishes the update’s stability fix from CPU and GPU optimization work planned for later. This is a historical summary of Ver. 1.021, not confirmation of the game’s live version in October 2026.
What Ver. 1.021 adds to the endgame
The update brings forward content originally planned for the third title update, scheduled for late September 2025. Its main additions are 9-star tempered hunts for HR 100 or higher and a new reward loop that turns Glowing Stones into randomly generated talismans.

9-star tempered hunts at HR 100
At HR 100 or higher, tempered 9-star versions of the following monsters can begin appearing in locales:
- Rey Dau
- Uth Duna
- Nu Udra
- Jin Dahaad
- Gore Magala
- Arkveld
- Mizutsune
- Lagiacrus
- Seregios
Rey Dau and Nu Udra can also appear in the Wounded Hollow at HR 100 or higher. Director Yuya Tokuda said the team adjusted difficulty, average hunt time, and rewards across the added quests, aiming to make the rewards proportionate to the effort rather than centering the endgame on Arkveld alone. Tokuda also said each region’s apex predator would be more likely to appear outside its region’s inclemency.

Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Glowing Stones and Appraised Talismans
Completing a 9-star monster quest can award a Glowing Stone. The stone is appraised when the quest ends, producing an Appraised Talisman with randomly assigned attributes. These talismans can roll armor skills, weapon skills, and decoration slots, creating additional build combinations.
Unlike talismans crafted and upgraded at the Smithy, Appraised Talismans cannot be upgraded. The patch notes also describe a related new feature at the Melding Pot. For the detailed feature wording and complete note list, see RPG Site’s transcription of the Ver. 1.021.00.00 patch notes.

Weapon balance changes
Capcom expanded the planned upward balance adjustments from five weapon types to 11:
- Great Sword
- Long Sword
- Sword & Shield
- Dual Blades
- Hunting Horn
- Lance
- Switch Axe
- Charge Blade
- Insect Glaive
- Light Bowgun
- Heavy Bowgun
The letter says Gunlance and Bow were slated for bug fixes only in this update. The balance work is not a blanket damage buff: the detailed notes include changes to moves, damage values, timing, and handling. Examples include higher raw or elemental damage values and faster combo links for Great Sword, timing adjustments for Long Sword, increased Counter Slash raw damage for Sword & Shield, and usability, movement, and follow-up changes for Dual Blades. Check the weapon-specific section of the detailed patch-note transcription for exact move-level adjustments rather than assuming every weapon received the same kind of buff.

Other gameplay and system changes
Ver. 1.021 includes practical controls and progression adjustments alongside the endgame content:
- Options to show or hide ammunition and coatings.
- A Recoil Aim Assist option.
- Favorites for weapons, armor, and talismans, plus favorite sorting across storage boxes.
- More responsive directional input on the World Map.
- A higher upgrade limit for armor of rarity 5 and above.
- Longer durations for several meal effects.
Crash fix and PC performance plans
Tokuda’s August 12 letter said Ver. 1.021 would fix a crash condition involving a gesture hitting another player at the same time as a particular communication error. This is a specific stability fix, not a general claim that the update resolved all crashes or performance issues.

The same letter discussed PC performance separately. Tokuda noted earlier Title Update 2 work related to shader compilation, reduced processing impact from anti-cheat measures, and support for DLSS4 and FSR4. He also cautioned that higher native frame rates can increase CPU use and suggested choosing a frame-rate limit suited to the player’s hardware. These are Capcom’s statements, not independent performance test results.
CPU-load reduction was described as planned for the fourth title update, with further mitigation to follow; GPU-load reduction was also identified as future work. Those were roadmap statements made in August 2025, not completed changes in Ver. 1.021. The August communication does not establish when or whether later updates delivered them.

Release date, version, and platforms
Ver. 1.021.00.00 was scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The director’s letter was published the day before. The patch-note report identifies Monster Hunter Wilds as available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Neither source establishes the game’s current live version in October 2026, subsequent hotfix history, or download size.
