MONOPOLY PLUS is a DirectX 11-era game. Its older design means launch failures are more likely to involve display modes, legacy components, drivers, overlays, or Ubisoft Connect authentication than inadequate modern gaming performance.

First, confirm which MONOPOLY you own
This guide covers MONOPOLY PLUS (Steam app ID 562810). It does not cover the newer game formerly marketed as MONOPOLY 2024 and now listed as MONOPOLY. The newer release has different requirements and troubleshooting steps.
For MONOPOLY PLUS, Steam lists Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, DirectX 11, and a GTX 460 v2 or Radeon HD 7750-class GPU as minimum requirements. Steam also notes that the game can be played on Windows 10 and Windows 11, but that is not a guarantee of perfect compatibility on every Windows 11 configuration. See Steam’s current listing.

1. Restart Steam, Ubisoft Connect, and Windows
This is a low-risk reset for a stalled launcher session or failed authentication handshake.
- Exit MONOPOLY PLUS.
- Exit Steam.
- Exit Ubisoft Connect from its system-tray icon.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- End clearly identified remaining Steam or Ubisoft Connect processes.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Steam first and launch the game normally.
Do not end unrelated Windows processes. If the game still fails, continue rather than repeatedly restarting.
2. Verify the game files
Steam
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click MONOPOLY PLUS and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files. Older Steam versions may call this Local Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.

Ubisoft Connect
If Ubisoft Connect manages the installation, open Games, select MONOPOLY PLUS, and use its properties or management menu to choose Verify files or the equivalent repair option. Ubisoft’s labels can change, so use the game’s management area rather than relying on one permanent menu path.
3. Disable overlays and background hooks
Temporarily disable the Steam overlay, Ubisoft Connect overlay, Discord overlay, NVIDIA App or GeForce overlay, AMD Adrenalin overlay, Xbox Game Bar, MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner OSD, recording tools, RGB utilities, macro software, and controller-remapping tools.

For the cleanest test, run only Steam and Ubisoft Connect. If the game launches, re-enable these tools one at a time to find the conflict. Overlays inject software into the game and can interfere with older display or input handling, but they are not a confirmed cause in every installation.
4. Switch to windowed mode with Alt + Enter
Try this when you see a black screen, hear audio without a picture, or the crash occurs while the game changes display modes.

- Start MONOPOLY PLUS.
- When the stuck or black window appears, press Alt + Enter.
- Wait several seconds.
- If the game becomes visible, open its display settings and choose a supported resolution and window mode.
- Restart and test fullscreen only after windowed mode works.

Test one monitor
The original MONOPOLY PLUS readme says the game does not support multiple monitors. If you use two or more displays, temporarily disconnect the additional screens or set one display as primary, then test windowed mode. This is an official limitation—not proof that every multi-monitor setup will crash. Read the original documentation.
5. Update or roll back the graphics driver
- Identify whether your graphics hardware is NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel.
- Download a driver from the manufacturer’s official website or driver application.
- Install it and restart Windows.
- Test MONOPOLY PLUS before restoring overlays or tuning utilities.
If the crashing began immediately after a driver update, use the manufacturer’s rollback option or install the previous stable driver. Avoid third-party driver-updater programs.

On a laptop with integrated and dedicated graphics, open Settings > System > Display > Graphics. Add the game if necessary and test both GPU options. Do not assume a particular executable filename because it can vary by installation.

MONOPOLY PLUS requires DirectX 11. If Windows reports a missing DLL, look in the game’s installation folder for a Support, Redist, or DirectX folder and run the included DirectX installer if one is present. The original readme specifically recommends reinstalling DirectX from the supplied support files for missing-DLL problems. Read the documentation.
Also repair or install the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages using Microsoft’s official installers or the files supplied with the game. Installing legacy DirectX components does not downgrade Windows or replace its modern DirectX runtime; compatible components can coexist.
Do not download individual DLL files from random websites. If the game still reports a missing file after repairing the official components, return to file verification and check the exact error.
7. Reset Ubisoft Connect’s state and check account linking
Use this fix when Steam says the game is launching but nothing appears, Ubisoft Connect closes, authentication fails, or you see an ownership or entitlement error.

- Close Steam and Ubisoft Connect completely.
- Reopen Ubisoft Connect and sign in to the Ubisoft account that owns MONOPOLY PLUS.
- Confirm the game appears in that account’s library.
- Launch the game from the platform where you bought it.
If Ubisoft Connect itself is unstable, follow Ubisoft’s current launcher-repair or cache-clearing instructions. Cache locations and menu labels can change, so do not delete random Ubisoft folders or the entire launcher directory without a specific reason and a backup of relevant local data.

8. Reinstall selectively, then contact Ubisoft
Reinstalling should be the last major step, not the first. Before doing it:
- Verify the files.
- Confirm Steam and Ubisoft Connect are updated.
- Install the game on a normal internal or supported drive.
- Avoid
C:Windows, another Windows subfolder, or the root of the system drive; the original readme discourages these locations. - Temporarily remove overlays and tuning utilities.
Use this order:
- Repair or reinstall Ubisoft Connect if the launcher itself crashes or multiple Ubisoft games fail.
- Reinstall MONOPOLY PLUS if verification did not help.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the game before reinstalling optional overlays or utilities.
Reinstalling the game is not the same as deleting save or configuration folders. Do not delete local save data casually, especially if cloud synchronization is involved.

- Crash logs or system-information files requested by support.
- A screenshot or short video of the failure.
If the game produces no visible error, check Windows Event Viewer or launcher logs only after the basic fixes. If multiple Ubisoft games fail, focus on Ubisoft Connect, security software, permissions, or a broader system conflict rather than repeatedly reinstalling MONOPOLY PLUS.
Should you run compatibility mode or administrator mode?
These are optional final experiments, not primary fixes. Compatibility mode can interfere with modern launchers, and permanently running games or launchers as administrator can create permission inconsistencies. If you test either option, record the original setting so you can undo it if the result is worse.
