Already own Rise? Buy Sunbreak as an expansion, not as a replacement for the base game: Capcom says you must own Monster Hunter Rise to play it. The Deluxe versions add listed cosmetic kits; the official listings do not say those kits are required for the expansion’s core content.
Which Monster Hunter Rise bundle should I buy?
Start with whether you own the base game, then check which bundle contains the expansion and whether you want its listed Deluxe Kits. The Capcom Town pages cited here are Steam product listings, so use them as a guide to what those particular SKUs include—not as a guarantee about another platform or region.

Compare the live bundle price against buying the base game and expansion separately in your own storefront. Sale prices and availability change, so a price shown in a listing is not a reliable evergreen comparison.
Do I need Monster Hunter Rise to play Sunbreak?
Yes. Capcom’s North America Steam listing for Sunbreak Deluxe Edition states: “You must own Monster Hunter Rise in order to play this expansion.” If you already own Rise, avoid buying a bundle that includes the base game again unless you need another copy for a different account or platform.

Does Sunbreak include the base game?
No: the expansion-only Sunbreak Deluxe Edition listing names the expansion and the Sunbreak Deluxe Kit, not Monster Hunter Rise. By contrast, the Rise + Sunbreak Deluxe bundle lists both games plus both Deluxe Kits. Read the SKU title and included-items section carefully; “Deluxe” on its own does not mean the base game is included.
What is in the Sunbreak Deluxe Edition?
On the reviewed North America Steam listing, the Deluxe Edition contains Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and the Sunbreak Deluxe Kit. The listing describes the expansion as adding new monsters, new locales, and new abilities for all 14 weapon types. The Deluxe Kit is an extra, not a stated requirement for accessing those expansion features. Because kit contents can be presented differently across platforms or regions, check the itemized contents on the store where you intend to buy.

When does Sunbreak content become accessible?
Buying the expansion does not unlock its content at the start of the base game. Capcom’s North America listing says Sunbreak content becomes accessible after completing the 7-star Hub quest “Serpent Goddess of Thunder.” This is a game-progress requirement, not a condition you must meet before purchasing.
