A separate September 28 stage presentation was scheduled to show the Scarlet Forest in on-hardware gameplay and include a Doshaguma hunt challenge quest. These were announced event activities, not details of the later retail game or a record of an attendee’s experience.
What was in the Monster Hunter Wilds TGS 2024 demo?
Capcom announced the event-floor demo as Japan’s first opportunity to play Monster Hunter Wilds. The announcement said more than 150 stations in total were planned across the Capcom and PlayStation booths at Tokyo Game Show, which began September 26, 2024. It did not give a booth-by-booth station breakdown, session length, reservation process, or a detailed list of demo content. Capcom’s September 25, 2024 announcement described the planned demo and station count.

That means the confirmed answer is limited but useful: visitors were to get a playable event build, and the setup was planned at substantial scale. The announcement does not establish queue times, how many people ultimately played, or how the demo performed.
What was planned for the September 28 stage?
Capcom separately scheduled a Monster Hunter Wilds stage presentation for September 28. The program promised world-first on-hardware gameplay in the Scarlet Forest, with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, art director and executive director Kaname Fujioka, and director Yuya Tokuda. It also listed a Doshaguma hunt challenge quest as part of the TGS program. These were announced presentation and program details; they should not be mistaken for a firsthand report or a guarantee that every event-floor demo station used the same content. The details appear in Capcom’s September 20, 2024 TGS program announcement.
#1 Best Overall
- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
How the event demo differs from the released game
The TGS build was a temporary, playable event demo announced for the 2024 show. Monster Hunter Wilds later launched on February 28, 2025. Capcom listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as platforms. The TGS announcement does not establish that its event build remained available after the show or that its content was identical to the retail release.

What Capcom said about Wilds
Capcom described the series as hunting-action games in which players take on giant monsters in natural environments, including cooperative play with friends. In its September 25, 2024 release, the company also said: “Monster Hunter Wilds features beautiful visuals on a grand scale made possible by Capcom’s proprietary game development engine, the RE ENGINE, as well as cross-play, allowing players to enjoy the game together regardless of their game platform.” This is Capcom’s statement, not a named developer’s quotation.
The same release reported more than 103 million cumulative Monster Hunter series units sold as of June 30, 2024. That figure covers the franchise, not Monster Hunter Wilds.
