Sony announced two separate, limited-quantity Monster Hunter Wilds accessories for Japan: a volcanic-red DualSense controller and a midnight-black PS5 cover. Their planned release date was February 28, 2025, the game’s launch day. The announcement gives original Japanese prices, but it does not confirm current stock or availability outside Japan.
What Sony announced
In an announcement published October 23, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment said the accessories would be released in Japan in limited quantities on February 28, 2025. Reservations were scheduled to begin at PlayStation retailers and online stores from October 30, 2024. These were separate accessories, not a console bundle. Sony’s PlayStation.Blog Japan announcement describes the designs and original prices.
How the controller and cover differ
| Item | Design and model | Original Japanese price | What was included |
|---|---|---|---|
| DualSense controller | Monster Hunter Wilds Limited Edition, model CFI-ZCT1JZ5. Volcanic red with silver details inspired by the armor pattern worn by the hunter at the beginning of the game, plus the Forbidden Lands Survey Team emblem on the touchpad. | ¥12,480 including Japanese tax; Sony’s announced MSRP in 2024. | Controller and instruction manual. Game and PS5 console not included. |
| PS5 cover | Monster Hunter Wilds Limited Edition, model CFIJ-16022. Midnight black with a silver Survey Team emblem. | ¥9,980 including Japanese tax; Sony’s announced MSRP in 2024. | Cover and instruction manual. Game and PS5 console not included. |
The controller is the playable accessory; the cover is a cosmetic console add-on. The prices above are historical Japan-market launch MSRPs, not verified current prices or prices for other regions.
Is the Monster Hunter Wilds DualSense controller available outside Japan?
Sony’s announcement specified Japan. The cited official sources do not confirm availability in other territories or international shipping, so buyers outside Japan should check the destination country, seller, and delivery terms rather than assume the Japan release includes a worldwide offer.

At the time the official e-Capcom controller page was accessed, it displayed ¥12,480 and an out-of-stock status. What to check before buying
- Confirm the product and model: CFI-ZCT1JZ5 for the controller or CFIJ-16022 for the cover.
- Check the seller’s current stock, final price, shipping destination, and any applicable import costs; the announced prices were Japanese tax-inclusive MSRPs from 2024.
- If buying the cover, confirm with the seller that it fits your exact PS5 model and revision. Sony’s cited announcement does not specify compatibility across hardware revisions.
- Do not expect the game or console to be included. Sony listed the accessories separately, and Capcom’s controller listing also states that the game is not included.
Does the controller support Monster Hunter Wilds features?
PlayStation Japan’s Monster Hunter Wilds game page identifies DualSense vibration and trigger-effect support. Capcom’s official controller listing says the controller supports PS5, PC/Mac, and mobile devices; that device-support statement does not establish that a specific seller has stock or ships internationally.
