Target openings when the coating changes
Icy Veins recommends attacking Gogmazios’s wingarms or face when openings allow. Treat this as tactical guidance rather than an official hitzone ranking. The sources available do not establish a complete hitzone chart, move list, status-effect ranking, or exact part-break sequence, so weapon and target choices should be adjusted to the openings you can safely exploit.
How to access the Gogmazios hunt
Gogmazios arrived as the headline monster of Free Title Update 4. The official PlayStation game page lists the update as available December 16, 2025, and describes the special quest as a team hunt with four hunters and four support hunters. Capcom’s update announcement, republished on the PlayStation Blog, explains that defeating Gogmazios in an Extra Mission unlocks a permanent, repeatable Event Quest.

A Playnews guide updated August 6, 2026 reports that the repeatable quest is a 9-star hunt called “Shade of Sin” in the Forlorn Machine Site and requires HR 100 or higher. It also describes a separate 10-star special assignment. These quest names and requirements are secondary-source reporting, not details substantiated by the official pages cited here; check the live quest listing for current requirements.
What to expect from the team and siege encounter
The official description gives the group format as four hunters plus four support hunters. Mobalytics also characterizes the battle as multi-phase and involving siege mechanics, but the sources cited here do not establish the current devices, their operation, or a full phase-by-phase script. Coordinate with the group, watch for safe attack windows, and avoid relying on a specific siege sequence unless it is confirmed in your current quest.

Gogmazios rewards and what its materials do
Capcom says repeated hunts provide materials for forging hunter armor and Palico gear. The materials can also upgrade Rarity 8 Artian Weapons into Gogma Artian Weapons while transferring their existing weapon bonuses. The official PlayStation page says Gogma Artian Weapons gain an additional Set Bonus Skill and Group Skill.
Playnews lists secondary-source reward names including Gogmazios Rampart, Bastion, Membrane, Barbed Tail, Claws, Scourge, Thick Dragon Oil, Ravaged Dragon Gem, and a Gogmazios S Ticket. Confirm the item names and quest rewards in-game, since detailed loot tables are not established by the official update pages referenced above.
