Keep completing High Rank missions to raise Hunter Rank (HR) and unlock more hunts; then choose an endgame goal that suits you—new progression, tougher challenges, weapon materials, or collection. There is no single required endgame grind.
What to do first after the credits
- Continue High Rank missions. Progress through the missions available to you and raise HR; additional hunts and activities open at specific ranks. Capcom describes High Rank hunting as continuing after the story credits in its Title Update 1 announcement.
- Pick a goal before you farm. If you want more progression, work toward the next unlock. If you want a harder fight, choose a challenge hunt. If you want to build a particular weapon, focus on its relevant materials. Cosmetic and collection goals are another reason to keep hunting, but are optional.
- Check the current Event Quest schedule. Rotating or time-limited events should not be assumed available; use the in-game schedule to see what you can currently accept.
High Rank unlocks and endgame paths
The ranks below are examples of official content gates, not a universal difficulty scale. A higher HR requirement does not by itself tell you whether your equipment is ready or how demanding a hunt will feel.

| 10-star Hunt-a-thon | Clear the specified quests described in Capcom’s update post. | A further challenge route. The February 2026 announcement describes the 10-star Arch-tempered content and Hunt-a-thon unlock. |
How to choose your next hunt
If you want steady progression
Keep advancing through available High Rank missions and note the requirements shown for locked quests. The Mizutsune and Zoh Shia examples illustrate how additional content can open at HR 21 and HR 50; they are milestones, not a checklist every hunter must complete.
If you want a tougher fight
Try an available Arch-tempered or 10-star quest when you want to test your preparation and play. These are challenge options, not mandatory steps for every endgame player. Quest availability can change, so verify the live Event Quest schedule rather than relying on an old event announcement.
#1 Best Overall
- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
If you want weapon materials
First decide which weapon or upgrade you are pursuing, then check which hunt supplies its required materials. For Gogma Artian weapons, the documented route is to clear the HR 100 Gogmazios extra mission and then use the repeatable event quest for materials. The cited announcement is Japan-facing; check localized quest names and requirements in your game.
If you want collection goals
Optional hunts and event equipment can give you targets beyond rank progression. Treat event windows as time-sensitive: for example, the Fender collaboration event announced in June 2025 had an August 27–September 24, 2025 window, which has passed. Capcom’s announcement documents that past window; it does not establish current availability.
Rank #2
- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
Prepare for the announced Ascendance expansion
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is planned for 2027. Capcom announced that it will add new quest ranks, locales, monsters, and expanded weapon actions in its June 8, 2026 announcement. A September 3, 2026 PlayStation Blog post by Capcom USA says the expansion requires the base game and that players must reach HR 40 and complete “Awaking From a Dream” to begin its story and enter Master Rank. Because the release is planned for 2027, treat those published details as the announced requirements rather than a guarantee that plans cannot change.

What not to assume about the endgame
- HR gates identify when an activity can unlock; they do not establish the gear or skill level every player needs to clear it.
- No single hunt or weapon build is established as best for everyone. Pick activities by their requirement, challenge, reward, and your own goal.
- Update posts document what was announced, not necessarily what is active now. Check the in-game quest list and schedule for current availability; Capcom notes that quest details can change or be cancelled without notice in its Title Update 4 release.
