Monster Hunter Wilds’ next announced major content is the expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, planned for 2027. Capcom says it will continue the game’s story and add new quest ranks, locales, monsters, and weapon-action features. No exact release date has been announced. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
In an announcement dated June 8, 2026, Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a large expansion planned for 2027. Capcom says the expansion will continue the base game’s story and add new quest ranks, locales, additional monsters, and expanded weapon actions through new gameplay features. Khezu and character editing
The official Monster Hunter Wilds announcements listing on Steam reports that Capcom revealed at a Tokyo Game Show 2026 stage event that Khezu will appear in Ascendance. The listing also says a character-edit update is planned for the Ver. 2 update released with the expansion in 2027, and that the update will apply to the base game as well. What do the earlier updates tell us?
A PlayStation Blog post dated February 9, 2026, said Ver. 1.041 was planned for February 18 and covered the game’s first-anniversary in-game event and a Monster Hunter Stories 3 collaboration. Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
For historical context, Capcom announced on March 31, 2025, that worldwide sales had surpassed 10 million units. The same release said the first free title update was scheduled for April 4, 2025.
