Monster Hunter Wilds’ Open Beta Test let players build a Hunter, and Capcom said that character data could carry into the full game. Players have reportedly used the creator to make recognizable versions of Elden Ring’s Malenia and Like a Dragon’s Goro Majima—but the available sources do not verify the original designs or identify their creators. These are player-made recreations, not official crossover characters or costumes.
How the Monster Hunter Wilds character creator became a place for recreations
Character creation was part of the Open Beta Test, alongside a Story Trial and a Doshaguma Hunt. Capcom also said players could carry characters made in either Open Beta Test into the full game. That gave players a chance to work on a Hunter before release, rather than limiting the creator to a short-lived beta feature. Capcom’s Open Beta Test information describes the beta activities and character-data transfer.
The Malenia and Majima designs are reported community examples. The sources available do not establish who made them or provide original posts that let readers check the finished designs. A Reddit character-creation megathread mentions Majima, but does not adequately verify the specific recreation or its author; it does not corroborate the Malenia example. Without those original posts, there are no verified creator handles, slider settings, or grounds to call either design an exact recreation.
The distinction matters: the story is about players using customization tools to evoke characters from other games. It is not evidence of an official collaboration, licensed content, downloadable costume, or Capcom endorsement. Nor does it show how common these recreations were. No count of character-creator users or Malenia and Majima designs is established.

What players could carry into the full game
Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds for February 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with cross-play. Its release announcement gives the date, platforms, and cross-play details. The beta character-transfer option meant players who took part could preserve their created Hunter for the full release, rather than treating the beta character as disposable.
Can you change your Hunter’s appearance later?
Yes. The Character Edit Voucher add-on allows players to redo character creation and change an existing Hunter’s appearance and voice. The official Xbox listing says its free single voucher is a one-time item, is consumed when the edited character is saved, and requires Monster Hunter Wilds. It is an optional way to edit an existing Hunter, not a requirement for using the creator at the start.

Capcom reported that Monster Hunter Wilds had surpassed 10 million worldwide sales as of March 31, 2025. That is a dated publisher-reported game sales figure, not a count of people who used the creator or made crossover recreations. Capcom’s March 31, 2025 announcement provides the figure.
