When did Monster Hunter Wilds’ second free update come out?
Free Title Update 2 launched on June 30, 2025. Capcom announced it four days earlier, describing it as an update with “New monsters, features, and more.” Capcom’s PlayStation Blog announcement is the primary source for its features and the event dates it announced at the time.
The update was for Monster Hunter Wilds, which launched on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Capcom reported that worldwide sales passed 10 million units by March 31, 2025; that milestone provides launch context, but does not explain the later Steam review activity. Capcom’s March 31, 2025 release gives the sales figure and launch platforms.
What did Title Update 2 add?
Lagiacrus and Seregios hunts
The update made both Lagiacrus and Seregios huntable. Capcom’s post set Hunter Rank 31 or higher as a requirement for their quests, along with completion of specified story or side missions. The exact prerequisite differs by monster, so check the relevant quest details in-game rather than assuming Hunter Rank alone unlocks both.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Layered weapons and Palico weapons
Hunters can unlock layered weapon appearances by crafting the final weapon in an upgrade tree. Fully reinforced rarity 8 Artian weapons can also be layered. The update added layered weapon appearances for Palicos as well.
Support hunters, including Mina
Players gained the option to choose support hunters for quests. Mina, who fights with Sword & Shield, joined the available support hunters.
More Photo Mode controls
Photo Mode gained options for visual effects and for showing or hiding characters and companions. These changes let players compose shots with more control over what appears in the frame.
Were the update’s events and collaboration limited-time?
Yes. The announcement listed the Festival of Accord: Flamefete for July 23 to August 6, 2025, and an Arch-Tempered Uth Duna event for July 30 to August 20, 2025. Those announced windows have passed. It also described a Monster Hunter/Fender collaboration: a Rathalos Telecaster gesture was available through a limited Event Quest from August 27 to September 24, 2025, while the guitar itself was a real-world collaboration item. The announcement does not establish current stock or availability.

Capcom said at the time that Title Update 3 was expected at the end of September 2025. That was a roadmap statement made in June 2025, not a current forecast.
Why did Monster Hunter Wilds Steam reviews turn negative?
PC Gamer reported on October 6, 2025, that slightly more than 5,000 reviews had been posted after the September 29 crossover update, and just under 80% of that group were negative. Its report connected the complaints to recurring PC performance problems. Those numbers describe the period covered by that report, not the present-day Steam review page. PC Gamer’s October 6, 2025 report is the source for the count, share and reported context.
Calling that episode a “review bomb” goes beyond what the cited evidence establishes. The report documents a large influx of negative reviews and performance complaints; it does not establish that reviewers coordinated or that the reviews were illegitimate. “Negative review surge” is the more precise description of the documented event.

Capcom’s official Steam announcements feed included an August 2026 update summary addressing frame-rate drops in some environments after a preceding version and listing driver guidance. This shows that performance mitigation remained part of the official update record; it does not demonstrate that the game runs well on every PC or that one fix resolves every configuration’s issues. The game’s official Steam announcements provide the notice, but not a configuration-by-configuration benchmark.
As a result, the October 2025 Steam episode is useful historical context, not a current verdict on every player’s experience. The cited sources do not provide controlled benchmarks or a compatibility matrix from which to predict performance for a specific PC.
