What kind of game is Moros Protocol?
Moros Protocol is a sci-fi FPS set aboard the derelict warship The Orpheus. Steam describes a mix of fast combat, roguelite progression and demanding, Souls-like boss encounters. Pixel Reign developed the game, and Super Rare Originals published it. The PC version released on Steam on September 18, 2025, so this is a look at an already-released game rather than an upcoming one. Steam store listing

Runs, builds and death
Each run sends players through hostile encounters while they collect weapons and augments to shape a build. Pixel Reign describes upgrading between attempts so players can push farther after dying. The game combines handcrafted environments with procedural generation, giving runs a changing structure without describing every area as wholly randomized.
In its developer AMA, Pixel Reign estimated that a run, assuming the player does not die early, should take two to four hours per area on average. That is the developer’s estimate, not independently measured session data. Pixel Reign developer AMA

Visual style
The store describes the presentation as low-poly environments with pixel textures and modern rendering. The result is a deliberately retro-styled look rather than a claim that the game uses old hardware-era graphics.
Is Moros Protocol single-player or co-op?
Steam lists both single-player and online co-op for the PC version, alongside full controller support, Steam Cloud, achievements and Family Sharing. Its store page describes co-op as drop-in. Steam store listing
Official Steam announcements document fixes for co-op synchronization problems, including boss encounters and cutscenes that did not trigger or sync properly between players. A later update also changed when fallen co-op players resurrect and improved controller UI. These updates show the developers have addressed specific issues; they do not establish that every technical problem is resolved. Check the official Steam announcements for the latest patch details.

Pixel Reign has said that plans exist for a physical release in 2027. In its developer AMA, the studio answered a physical-distribution question: “There are plans for physical release in 2027 yes!” The statement does not identify a precise street date, retailer, region, price, or final edition contents, and it does not by itself confirm a specific Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition.
The AMA also announced the game as out on Nintendo Switch 2 and described the PC release as the prior year’s launch. A publisher representative said Switch 2 co-op would arrive as a free post-launch update “as soon as it is ready,” but that statement alone does not confirm that the update has shipped. Steam confirms a digital PC listing, but the physical-release statement does not establish that an Amazon product page or any other retailer listing exists. Before buying a physical copy, verify the platform, retailer, region, edition contents and release date on the actual listing.
