What Capcom announced—and when
The game launched on February 28, 2025. On March 4, Capcom reported that worldwide sales had surpassed 8 million units in three days. The company’s wording is “units,” rather than “copies,” and the figure describes sales at that dated milestone—not a current lifetime total.

Capcom’s record claim is specifically about speed: it said no title in company history had reached 8 million units faster. This is a claim about Capcom’s own catalog, not a comparison with the entire game industry.
How the three-day milestone compares with the first month
On March 31, 2025, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds had surpassed 10 million units worldwide in its first month. Capcom called that its company record for first-month sales. These are two distinct milestones, announced on different dates:

Platforms and what Capcom highlighted
For the original release, Capcom listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In its March 2025 announcements, Capcom described the series as cooperative hunting-action games focused on hunting giant monsters in natural environments. It highlighted cross-play in the three-day announcement; its first-month announcement also pointed to Focus Mode and movement between settlements and ecosystems.

- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
On June 8, 2026, Capcom said the base game was in development for Nintendo Switch 2. That announcement described development status, not a released Switch 2 version, and said further details would come in future official updates.
