These figures and limits come from the providers’ cited pages, not a measurement of your local PC or a reliability test. Neither route has a substantiated universal total for electricity, monitoring time, or uptime.
How to calculate your PC’s monthly electricity cost
Use the computer’s measured average power during the actual streaming workload, not the power-supply rating or a generic PC estimate:
Monthly electricity cost = average watts ÷ 1,000 × streaming hours per month × local price per kWh.

- Measure average watts while the PC is running the encoder and stream. Use a plug-in power meter or another suitable measurement method; the source material does not establish a typical wattage.
- Count the hours you plan to stream during the billing interval. For a nonstop stream, use the actual hours in that interval rather than assuming every month has exactly 30 days.
- Multiply kilowatt-hours by the electricity rate on your bill.
- Add hardware depreciation, software, or incremental internet service only if those costs apply to your setup. If you already own the PC and internet plan, separate marginal cash spending from an allocated ownership cost.
The result is your electricity estimate, not necessarily the full cost of operating a PC stream. The number will vary with the PC, workload, schedule, local tariff, and any additional expenses.
What the StreamYard subscription buys—and what it does not establish
At the retrieved monthly list prices, the plan cost is straightforward, but fit depends on the broadcast. StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guide says a scheduled broadcast starts automatically at its chosen time and ends when the selected video finishes. It lists these maximum video lengths:

The same guide says prerecorded video streams at up to 1080p on paid plans, accepts MP4/H.264, and permits uploads up to 10 Mbps. Schedule counts and file-size limits vary by plan. The announcement’s YouTube share link appears at announcement time if an announcement is configured, or when the stream goes live if none is scheduled. Check the help page for the applicable plan details before choosing.
Do not confuse the length of one prerecorded video with the platform’s general streaming limit. StreamYard’s streaming-limits article says paid plans have no streaming limit imposed by StreamYard, while destination platforms may impose limits. Its note about YouTube’s latest 12 hours being recorded does not turn a finite prerecorded video into an endless loop.

What a PC encoder requires
YouTube supports software encoders running on computers. In the documented workflow, you configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP, in its live encoder settings guidance. Follow the current settings guidance for the resolution and bitrate appropriate to your video and connection; the cost sources do not provide a single bitrate or resolution that suits every stream.
The PC route means the computer and its network connection must be available for the broadcast. The cited YouTube guidance establishes how to connect an encoder, not a guarantee of nonstop running, automatic recovery, or an unattended schedule. Plan how you will monitor the stream, recover if it stops, and handle the YouTube archive if a session exceeds 12 hours. YouTube says sessions under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish unlimited replay archival for longer sessions.

- Choose StreamYard when a scheduled, finite prerecorded broadcast within the applicable plan’s duration limit fits your needs and you value its documented scheduled-start workflow. Its monthly charge is predictable at the listed monthly price, subject to changes or offers.
- Choose a PC encoder when you already have suitable equipment, can keep it and the connection available, and want to calculate costs from your actual power draw and tariff. The total is personal rather than a standard monthly fee.
