Magic: The Gathering’s Monty Python and the Holy Grail crossover was a two-volume Secret Lair release, not a standalone expansion. Announced in July 2024, the limited drops reimagined nine existing cards with names and artwork drawn from the film. Their original sale window has ended; the announcement does not establish current stock or resale prices.
What was the Monty Python Magic crossover?
Wizards of the Coast announced Secret Lair x Monty Python and the Holy Grail as two limited drops: Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Each paired an existing Magic card with a film-themed name and art. The Wizards announcement is dated July 26, 2024; a rights-holder-distributed release appeared July 24, 2024.
Which cards were in each volume?
Vol. 1: five cards
- Prodigal Sorcerer — “Tim the Enchanter”
- Buried Alive — “Bring Out Your Dead!”
- Dismember — “’Tis But a Scratch!”
- Birds of Paradise — “African Swallow” // “European Swallow,” a double-sided card
- Three Visits — “We Want … A SHRUBBERY!”
Vol. 2: four cards
- Door to Nothingness — “The Bridge of Death”
- Ashnod’s Altar — “Sir Bedivere’s Scales”
- Dark Depths — “Castle of Aaargh”
- Marit Lage — “The Black Beast of Aaargh”
The Birds of Paradise treatment plays directly on the swallow debate: Wizards described the double-sided card as letting players choose between an African and European Swallow.
