Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf a Mortal Kombat 1 weekly quest appears to reset or a Brutality will not trigger, first identify exactly what changed: the timer, the quest counter, or the finisher itself. WB Games has patched quest-timer and completion problems, as well as specific Brutality trigger bugs, but those historical fixes do not establish one current cause for every player. The right next step depends on your platform, game version, mode, and the precise action that failed.
What does “resetting” mean for a weekly quest?
A changed timer is not the same problem as a counter returning to zero, a quest disappearing, or an action failing to count. Note the exact quest text and displayed progress, then record what you saw before and after the match or reset. WB Games’ April 16, 2024 patch notes say the update fixed an issue that could cause Daily and Weekly Quests to display incorrect time remaining. That is evidence of a past timer-display defect; it does not establish that all apparent progress losses were fixed or that a current reset has the same cause.

WB Games’ September 26, 2023 PC and Epic Games Store patch notes also state that “Daily/Weekly quests can now all be completed.” This documents an early quest-completion fix for those platforms and that update, not a guarantee about every later build or every platform.
Check what the objective actually counts
Read the complete in-game objective and check whether it names a particular mode or requires an action within one match or round. A community discussion includes players reporting that some tasks may be match-based, but that is anecdotal, not an authoritative list of current quest rules. The official notes cited here do not establish every present-day quest condition.

Why might a Brutality fail to trigger?
First confirm the exact finisher, its listed input, and its conditions in the in-game move list. Then try to reproduce it while noting the character, opponent state, attack used, range, mode, and inputs. A move that does not execute is different from a Brutality animation or visual effect that looks wrong.
WB Games’ December update notes document a specific historical trigger problem: some Brutalities could fail when the attack interrupted a Fatal Blow or an armored attack. The same notes describe a rare case in which Nitara’s Taste of Blood Brutality could briefly make the game unresponsive. These are specific documented issues, not a general explanation for every failed finisher.
Other patch notes concern visual problems rather than whether a finisher executes. WB Games’ September Update notes list visual fixes during Brutalities. They also mention an Invasions issue in which players sometimes were not using the latest hotfix data. These examples make the game version and mode useful details when you report a problem.

What to do next, based on the symptom
- For a timer that changes unexpectedly: Record the displayed remaining time, the time you noticed it, and the exact quest wording. Compare the symptom with the timer issue described in WB Games’ April 16, 2024 notes.
- For a counter that does not advance or appears to revert: Capture the counter before and after an attempt. Check the full objective for any mode, round, or single-match condition, and note which mode you played. Do not assume a community-reported match condition applies to your quest.
- For a Brutality that will not execute: Check its entry and conditions in the in-game move list, then record the exact input and opponent state. Note in particular whether the final attack interrupted a Fatal Blow or armored attack, the interaction covered by WB Games’ historical fix.
- For any repeatable issue: Check for an available game update, then capture a short video and write down your platform, game version, mode, quest text or move-list entry, and steps that reproduce the failure. A reproducible report is more useful than a general description such as “quests are broken.”
How to report the issue on your platform
WB Games’ Mortal Kombat 1 bug-report site advises players to search for a matching issue first. If one exists, vote for it and add useful details or screenshots/video; if not, file a new report with reproducible steps. For direct help, the WB Games support site directs players to choose “Ask for Help.”
If you play on Steam and the symptoms suggest damaged local game files, WB Games’ PC troubleshooting article documents Steam’s “Verify Integrity of Game Files” process. It is an integrity check, not a proven fix for quest data or a gameplay trigger. The same PC guidance points players to the bug-report site if the issue persists; console players should use the bug-report route rather than follow Steam-specific steps.
What the documented fixes do—and do not—show
The patch history confirms that Mortal Kombat 1 has had particular quest and Brutality defects, including incorrect quest time displays and a specific interruption-related finisher failure. It does not establish a current universal weekly-quest reset or Brutality bug, a failure rate, or a guaranteed workaround for the symptoms described here. Match your report to the observed behavior and current build rather than treating an old fix as proof of what is happening now.
