Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection includes 23 playable games, and the titles are part of the collection’s library—not rewards you unlock by progressing. Its unlock options instead make selected secrets inside games easier to access, including secret characters, hidden bosses, and developer menus. Digital Eclipse’s FAQ confirms the total and describes the unlock tools, but does not provide a complete title-by-title catalog of all 23 versions.
What games are in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection?
Digital Eclipse describes the collection as a selection of early arcade, home-console, and handheld Mortal Kombat releases, covering the franchise’s formative years. Its official FAQ confirms 23 playable games and says the library is the same across platforms. However, the FAQ does not enumerate every game version, so a complete version-by-version list cannot be verified from the official catalog information available here. See Digital Eclipse’s collection page and its FAQ.

The FAQ identifies several notable entries: the rare arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – WaveNet, the PlayStation games Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, and arcade Mortal Kombat 4. Digital Eclipse says WaveNet UMK3 is playable in the collection for the first time since 1997 and that the PlayStation games are reissued here for the first time. Those descriptions refer to the versions named by the FAQ, not necessarily every edition or release of each game.
Versions the FAQ confirms for online play
This is a list of selected online-compatible versions, not the full 23-game catalog. Digital Eclipse’s FAQ names:

Online play for arcade Mortal Kombat 4 is unavailable on the original Nintendo Switch for technical reasons. Digital Eclipse later reported that Online Arcade had become available on all platforms; that update does not mean every game in the collection supports online play. Check the FAQ and patch notes for the supported versions and updates.
How do you unlock secrets in the collection?
Open the relevant game’s menu and look for its available secret or cheat options. Digital Eclipse says the collection adds menu toggles for some secrets that were originally hidden behind codes or inputs, such as secret characters, developer menus, and hidden bosses. The exact options depend on the game and version; the FAQ does not provide a single universal unlock sequence.
Genesis examples include the codes ABACABB and DULLARD, which the FAQ says can be accessed through menu options. You can also enter codes manually where the original game supports them. Digital Eclipse describes the menu shortcuts as an optional way to reach these experiences, rather than a requirement to use them.
Are all 23 games available from the start?
The official description treats the 23 games as the collection’s library, while its unlock feature concerns secrets inside some of those games. It does not describe a progression system that makes you earn the game titles. The FAQ does not separately explain whether any title-specific menu, setup, or access step appears when first launching a game.
Features that help with practice
Several collection features are useful when learning a game or revisiting a difficult fight, but they are separate from unlocking the library:
Rank #2
- Step into the arena and choose your fighter!Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollectionincludes all the essential games from Mortal Kombat's early years. Experience the legendary origins of the franchise with the iconic arcade classics that started it all—alongside a curated selection of most-loved home versions and rare, fan-favorite releases—a celebration of the franchise’s groundbreaking legacy.
- Save and load anywhere and rewind let you revisit a moment or retry a section.
- Training modes add practice options to games that did not originally include them.
- On-screen move lists and a Fatality Trainer help you look up and practice moves.
- Streamlined versus options make it easier to set up a match.
Digital Eclipse says the games are emulations of the originals, intended to feel familiar and recognizable. Its FAQ also makes a version-specific claim about the PlayStation edition of Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Shang Tsung’s morphs load immediately, and stages load roughly 75 percent faster than they did originally. That figure applies to that game version and the comparison Digital Eclipse describes, not to the collection as a whole.

Digital Eclipse’s FAQ lists Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It gives October 30, 2025, as the digital release date and December 12, 2025, as the physical release date. The FAQ says every platform version has the same game library and other content; availability of a particular store listing or physical edition may vary.
| Edition | Contents described by Digital Eclipse | Availability note |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 physical edition | Standard physical edition | Check current retailer and regional stock. |
| Deluxe edition | Steelbook and collectibles | Check current retailer and regional stock. |
| Kollector’s Edition | Goro controller holder, hardcover art and lore book, pins, and collectible coin | The FAQ said its preorder had ended August 31, 2025, and it was sold out when the FAQ was published or updated. Current availability may differ. |
The FAQ also said Xbox physical preorders through Limited Run Games had ended and would not be restocked at that time. That is a dated availability statement, not a guarantee about present stock. Confirm the platform, edition, and region with the current store before buying.

- For the game content: the FAQ says the library and other content are the same across its listed platforms.
- For online play: use the selected-version list above rather than assuming all 23 games have online support. Note the original Switch limitation for arcade Mortal Kombat 4.
- For physical extras: compare the standard, Deluxe, and Kollector’s Edition contents, and verify current stock; the edition availability notes may have changed since the FAQ update.
- For controllers: Digital Eclipse says multiple controller or joystick setups can be configured. Check compatibility for your specific controller and platform, since the FAQ does not establish support for every hardware combination.
For current platform listings and product details, consult the Atari product page, the Xbox listing, or the Steam listing, as applicable to your region.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting a missing cheat or unlock option
- Check the game and version. Cheat menus and supported secrets can differ between arcade, console, and handheld versions.
- Look for the option in that game’s collection menu. Menu toggles cover selected secrets; they are not a universal unlock switch for every game.
- Try the original code if supported. The FAQ says manual code entry remains possible where a game supports it.
- Check for updates. Digital Eclipse’s November 4, 2025 patch notes recorded a fix for MK3 (Genesis) cheat menus not unlocking properly. That is a historical fix, not evidence that the issue remains unresolved; update the game and consult the latest patch notes if the menu still behaves unexpectedly.
