Mr Magpie’s Harmless Card Game has an expanded free demo on Steam, released October 5, 2026. The update adds new systems and lets players leave the card table to explore Mr Magpie’s office. Bloody Disgusting reports that Steam Next Fest is scheduled for October 19–26, 2026; that timing puts the demo update ahead of the event, but does not by itself confirm the game’s participation.
Where to play the demo
The free digital demo is listed on Steam, which gives October 5, 2026 as its release date. Giant Light Studios developed the game; Behaviour Interactive Inc. and Gambit Digital are listed as publishers. Check the live listing for current availability and system details.
What kind of game is it?
Steam describes Mr Magpie’s Harmless Card Game as a surreal corporate-horror deckbuilder, and lists it as single-player. You flip cards to earn money and uncover clues, build a deck, and buy cards and global perks. The central tension is deciding how far to push your luck while avoiding dangerous JERRY cards: a bad risk can end a run permanently. The game’s Steam description calls it “A surreal corporate horror deckbuilder about greed, deduction, and extremely unsafe workplace practices.”
What changed in the expanded demo?
Bloody Disgusting’s October 6, 2026 report describes several additions and revisions in the new build. The report and a Steam Community announcement result also point to improved visibility into the deck and a more explorable office.

Pair it with the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card or your other favorite rules card, sold separately. Please note this is a playing card set, not the annual NMJL rules card.
- SHARES: A new system added to the demo.
- Strategy selection: The selection system has been revamped.
- Onboarding and story: The first-time user experience is improved, with more narrative framing.
- Office exploration: Players can stand up from the table and explore an updated office environment.
