Its excellent cooler, 12GB of VRAM, and high-refresh 1440p performance are balanced by a 250W power draw, an unusually large chassis, weaker ray tracing than comparable Nvidia cards, and the fact that it launched in 2022.
Buy it when discounted well below newer 12GB or 16GB cards—especially used or refurbished with a real return policy. Skip it if it approaches the price of a current RX 9060 XT 16GB, or if ray tracing, AV1 encoding, compact dimensions, and long-term feature support matter more than raster performance.

The MSI card also provides three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs and one HDMI 2.1 output. Its higher factory clocks can provide a modest advantage, but this is still fundamentally a 40-compute-unit RX 6750 XT rather than a newer-generation GPU.
1440p gaming performance
For native 1440p gaming without ray tracing, the RX 6750 XT remains capable of High and Ultra settings across a broad range of games. It is best described as a high-refresh 1440p raster card, not a guarantee of 144Hz at maximum settings in every new release.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Competitive games and older titles can reach very high frame rates, although the CPU may become the limiting factor at 1080p or with a 165Hz target. Modern DX12, open-world, and Unreal Engine games are more variable: High settings are generally the sensible starting point, while particularly demanding releases may need optimized settings or FSR.
AMD’s published examples include 112 FPS in Call of Duty: Vanguard, 159 FPS in F1 2021, 117 FPS in Guardians of the Galaxy, and 89 FPS in Deathloop at 1440p maximum settings. These are selected AMD results, not an independent average across a modern test suite, so they should be treated as illustrations rather than a universal performance promise.
Historical independent testing gives useful context. TechPowerUp measured the MSI Gaming X Trio at roughly 8% faster than an RX 6700 XT reference design at 1440p and broadly comparable with the RTX 3070 in its rasterization suite. Those results are test-suite-specific and reflect the games, drivers, settings, and hardware available at the time.
Average FPS is not the whole story. A card can show a high average while producing poor 1% lows or inconsistent frame times in a CPU-limited or shader-heavy game. When comparing reviews, check whether results are native resolution or upscaled, whether Smart Access Memory or Resizable BAR is enabled, and whether the test uses High or Ultra presets.

Ray tracing, FSR, and Radeon features
The RX 6750 XT supports ray tracing through its 40 ray accelerators, but ray-traced performance is one of its weaker areas. Independent testing found it behind comparable Nvidia offerings in ray-tracing workloads. In demanding games, enabling RT can require reduced settings or an upscaling mode to maintain smooth frame rates.
That makes the buying decision straightforward:
- Rasterization-first players: the RX 6750 XT can still offer compelling 1440p value.
- Ray-tracing-first players: compare Nvidia alternatives game by game, particularly where DLSS is available.
- Mixed users: expect to choose between visual effects and frame rate in the most demanding RT titles.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution can improve performance by rendering internally below the output resolution. FSR Quality, Balanced, and other modes must be clearly separated from native results because they are not directly equivalent. Radeon Super Resolution applies a similar concept at the driver level for supported games. Image quality varies with the game, implementation, motion, and chosen mode.
Radeon Anti-Lag can reduce latency in supported workloads, Smart Access Memory may improve performance on compatible AMD platforms, and FreeSync is a particularly good match for a 1440p monitor. Check the monitor’s variable-refresh range rather than assuming every FreeSync display behaves identically.
Thermals, noise, and the MSI cooler
MSI equips this model with its TRI FROZR 2 cooler, TORX Fan 4.0 fans, heat pipes, airflow-control features, Zero Frozr fan-stop behavior, and Mystic Light RGB. MSI describes the design as quiet and heavily cooled; those are manufacturer claims, so they should be distinguished from measurements.
TechSpot measured the MSI card at 66°C and 1,350RPM in its test setup. That is a favorable result, but it is not a portable guarantee. Temperature and noise depend on ambient temperature, case airflow, fan curve, BIOS mode, dust, mounting, and thermal-paste condition. A meaningful hands-on test should record GPU-edge temperature, hotspot temperature, memory temperature when available, fan speed, idle fan-stop behavior, load noise, and sustained power draw after a long session.
The cooler’s main disadvantage is physical rather than thermal. At approximately 327mm long and 56mm thick, the card is roughly three slots thick in many cases and can block neighboring PCIe slots. Measure clearance with front fans, radiators, and power cables installed—not just the case’s headline GPU-length limit.
Power, case, and system compatibility
- Power supply: MSI recommends 650W or greater, and this model uses two 8-pin PCIe connectors. Use separate PSU cables where practical, especially with an older or marginal power supply. Actual system requirements also depend on the CPU, PSU quality, overclocking, and transient behavior.
- Case: confirm at least 327mm of usable length, 137mm of height clearance, and room for the 56mm thickness. Front radiators and fans reduce usable space.
- Motherboard: PCIe 4.0 is ideal. PCIe 3.0 systems generally remain usable, but the result depends on the platform, CPU, game, and target frame rate.
- CPU: a modern six-core processor is a sensible baseline for high-refresh 1440p. Older CPUs can limit esports and low-settings performance, but there is no universal CPU bottleneck threshold.
- Monitor: a 1440p FreeSync display is a natural pairing. The card’s listed outputs are three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1 port.
Media and creator features
The RX 6750 XT supports H.264 and H.265/HEVC encode and decode, AV1 decode, DisplayPort 1.4a, and HDMI 2.1-class features including high-resolution, high-refresh output and variable refresh support. Crucially, AV1 decode is not AV1 encode. Do not buy this card expecting the same modern AV1 recording or streaming capability offered by newer GPUs.

- Video Memory: 12GB GDDR6
- Stream Processor: 2560
- Game Clock: 2633 MHz (OC) / 2593 MHz (Silent)
- Boost Clock: 2713 MHz (OC) / 2689 MHz (Silent).Avoid using unofficial software
- Memory Clock: 18.0 Gbps
For ordinary gaming, this distinction may not matter. For streamers, video editors, and creators, encoder support can outweigh a small difference in game FPS. Nvidia alternatives may also be preferable when a workflow depends on CUDA, DLSS, or specific creator applications.
2026 value: price matters more than the model name
Historical launch reviews are poor guides to the card’s value now. In a price check dated around August 16, 2026, Newegg search results showed a new MSI listing at approximately $869. That is not evidence that a 2022 GPU is worth $869; it is better interpreted as scarce or inflated marketplace inventory.
Refurbished MSI Gaming X Trio listings appeared around $249.99, although some examples were shown as out of stock. Treat that as a price signal, not a currently guaranteed deal. Stock, condition, seller, warranty, and return protection matter more than the nominal listing price.
By comparison, RX 9060 XT cards were reported at roughly $399.99–$469.99, depending on memory capacity and retailer, in the same dated price snapshot. A newer RX 9060 XT 16GB therefore becomes the stronger choice when the price gap is small: it offers a newer architecture, newer feature support, 16GB variants, and a longer product-life runway.
| Price situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Below approximately $250 used or refurbished | Potentially compelling for rasterized 1440p, provided the seller, warranty, and return window are credible. |
| Near current-generation 16GB pricing | Usually choose the newer card unless the RX 6750 XT has a substantial performance or availability advantage. |
| Inflated new-stock pricing | Reject it. Scarcity does not make an old listing good value. |
Other alternatives deserve consideration. The RX 9060 XT 8GB may suit a tighter budget, but it should not automatically replace a discounted 12GB card for long-term 1440p use. The RX 7700 XT is a more direct newer-generation 1440p option when its actual street price is competitive. A used RX 6800 or 6800 XT can also be interesting, but age, power, condition, and warranty must be evaluated individually. Nvidia alternatives make more sense when ray tracing, DLSS, CUDA-dependent applications, or creator and streaming features are priorities.
Used and refurbished buying checklist
- Confirm the exact SKU is Radeon RX 6750 XT Gaming X Trio 12G, not a mislabelled product or a different MSI Trio model.
- Check the seller rating, written warranty, return period, and whether the listing is actually in stock.
- Request a GPU-Z or equivalent screenshot showing the GPU, memory capacity, clocks, and bus.
- Ask for a sustained-load temperature report, including hotspot temperature and the edge-to-hotspot difference.
- Listen for fan-bearing noise, rattling, clicking, or a fan that fails to start.
- Inspect for corrosion, bent fins, damaged power sockets, stripped screws, missing shrouds, and signs of liquid damage.
- Confirm both 8-pin connectors are present and undamaged, and verify that your PSU has suitable leads.
- Prefer a card with meaningful return protection. A no-warranty listing should be discounted enough to compensate for the risk.
Final recommendation
The MSI RX 6750 XT Gaming X Trio is still a good gaming card when judged for what it is: a well-cooled, high-performing conventional 1440p GPU with 12GB of VRAM. Its cooler is a genuine strength, but it does not transform the underlying 2022 architecture into a current-generation product.
Recommended: discounted used or refurbished inventory for High or Ultra 1440p rasterized gaming. Recommended with reservations: mixed gaming if you are comfortable reducing ray-tracing settings or using FSR. Not recommended: inflated new-stock pricing, compact systems, ray-tracing-heavy builds, or creator-focused systems that need AV1 encoding.
