Fix 8: Investigate drivers only when other evidence points there

msrepl40.dll is not a driver, and Device Manager will not normally repair it. Use Device Manager only if the failure began alongside broader hardware, storage, or chipset problems.

To inspect hardware errors:

1. Right-click Start.
2. Select Device Manager.

Do not copy the file into every system directory

Do not place arbitrary copies in both System32 and SysWOW64. Those folders have specific architecture and redirection behavior. The correct location may be the application directory, an Office directory, or a Windows-serviced location.

Do not register it with regsvr32
