Wizards of the Coast announced three SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drops for March 24, 2025: Legends of Bikini Bottom, Internet Sensation and Lands Under the Sea. Each was listed at $29.99 USD non-foil or $39.99 USD rainbow foil for that sale. Those are historical announced prices; the announcement does not establish whether any drop is available to buy now.
What was the SpongeBob Secret Lair?
It was not one combined card bundle. The collaboration was three separate drops within the Our Boss Is on Vacation Superdrop, each with a different theme and selection of cards. Wizards said the sale began March 24, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST, and described the products as available in limited quantities. Wizards’ March 24, 2025 announcement is the source for those original sale details.
What cards are in each SpongeBob Secret Lair?
| Drop | Contents | Theme |
|---|---|---|
| Legends of Bikini Bottom | Seven character-themed cards: SpongeBob with Jodah, the Unifier; Patrick Star with Barktooth Warbeard; Plankton with Skrelv, Defector Mite; Mr. Krabs with Charix, the Raging Isle; Squidward with Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar; Gary with Toxrill, the Corrosive; and Sandy Cheeks with Toski, Bearer of Secrets. | Character-themed versions pairing SpongeBob characters with existing Magic cards. |
| Internet Sensation | Counterspell, Daze, Inevitable Betrayal, Force of Despair, Night’s Whisper and a Food Token. | Art inspired by SpongeBob’s internet memes. The official Secret Lair product listing credits Tyler Walpole for the art. |
| Lands Under the Sea | Ten basic lands: two Plains, two Islands, two Swamps, two Mountains and two Forests. | A SpongeBob-themed set of basic lands. |
The announcement credits Caleb Meurer and Gregg Schigiel for Legends of Bikini Bottom, Tyler Walpole for Internet Sensation, and Jon Vermilyea for Lands Under the Sea. It credits the SpongeBob property as ©2025 Viacom International Inc. and says the series was created by Stephen Hillenburg.
Which SpongeBob drop best fits your deck?
- Choose Legends of Bikini Bottom if you want the character pairings and seven themed cards.
- Choose Internet Sensation if you want meme-inspired art on five named Magic cards and a Food Token.
- Choose Lands Under the Sea if you want a coordinated set of ten basic lands across all five land types.
Wizards listed the same original non-foil and rainbow-foil prices for all three, so the documented differences are their contents and art rather than their announced prices.
