If MultiVersus audio disappears while Spotify plays in the background, first check the game’s audio mix and your platform’s output and volume settings. Spotify says its Xbox app continues playing after you return to a game, but the available sources do not confirm a current MultiVersus-specific defect or an official fix. The checks below are platform-specific troubleshooting, not guaranteed fixes.
First identify what is going silent
Note whether Spotify stops playing, MultiVersus effects disappear, only the game’s music is affected, or all game audio goes quiet. Also note whether changing volume or output settings changes the behavior. That distinction can help you focus on the relevant app or mix controls; the available sources do not establish a single cause.
Check Spotify and MultiVersus on Xbox
- While playing, press the Xbox button to open the Guide, then select Spotify. Spotify says playback continues when you return to a game and that you can control playback and volume from the Guide. Spotify’s Xbox instructions describe these controls.
- Check that Spotify is playing and adjust its volume from the Guide.
- If MultiVersus offers an in-game music control, try lowering or disabling the game’s music, then adjust Spotify’s volume. Spotify recommends disabling in-game music when a game allows it; this is a general suggestion, not a confirmed MultiVersus fix.
A player report posted May 29, 2024 describes some MultiVersus sounds going missing with Spotify on Xbox Series S or Series X. It is an individual community report, not official confirmation of the cause, scope, or current status of the issue: the Xbox player report.
Check Windows output and app volumes
- Confirm Windows is using the intended output device, then check that device’s volume and the volume levels for Windows and both apps.
- Microsoft notes that audio enhancements can sometimes cause audio problems. As a test, turn them off for the relevant output device using the steps in Microsoft’s Windows audio troubleshooting guide.
These are general Windows checks; Microsoft’s guidance does not diagnose a MultiVersus and Spotify conflict. A Spotify Community thread reports Spotify audio cutting out for one Windows 11 user with a game open. A community reply suggests temporarily toggling game-optimization software to see whether behavior changes, but that is an individual suggestion—not an established general cause or MultiVersus fix: the Spotify Community discussion.
Inspect the PS5 audio format setting
On PS5, check Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Audio Format (Priority). PlayStation documents this setting for game and video app output, and says the available choices can depend on connected equipment and configuration. Its documentation does not identify changing this setting as a MultiVersus or Spotify fix: PlayStation’s PS5 audio settings guidance.

The cited guidance supports checking platform output, volume, and mix settings. It does not establish a current MultiVersus bug, explain why audio might disappear, or provide an official MultiVersus fix. The Xbox community report shows that a player described missing sounds, but it does not show that the issue affects all players or current game versions. No evidence here supports buying a headset, adapter, replacement part, or repair tool as a solution.
