For official game and platform context, Bandai Namco identifies Dark Souls III as a FromSoftware game directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and lists PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Its news page lists Patch Version 1.15.2 in an announcement dated January 12, 2023: Bandai Namco’s Dark Souls III page.
How the Nameless King boss fight works
Phase 1: King of the Storm
The first phase is a two-target encounter. The King of the Storm is the mount you must defeat, while the Nameless King attacks from its back. Keep track of the king’s attacks as you focus on the mount; do not treat the phase as a fight against the dragon alone.

Phase 2: Nameless King
After the King of the Storm falls, the Nameless King fights alone. A Prima Games walkthrough advises preparing for lightning damage in the later stage and notes that he uses more lightning spells after reaching half health. Adjust armor or rings to suit your build rather than assuming there is one required setup. The reference lists lightning resistance for the Nameless King, so lightning is not a weakness to exploit against him.
In either phase, favor short attacks that leave stamina for dodging. The enemies and damage profiles differ between phases, so a strategy that works against the mount may not be appropriate against the king.

Nameless King stats and reward
Boss figures vary by source and New Game cycle. The following references give these values; the King of the Storm and Nameless King figures are kept separate because they refer to different phases.

These are guide-reference figures, not universal values for every cycle. Prima Games also lists poison and toxic as ineffective against the Nameless King. The guaranteed item drop is the Soul of the Nameless King.

What to do with the Soul of the Nameless King
At Ludleth, with the Transposing Kiln, the soul can be exchanged for one of three items. It can also be consumed for 16,000 souls instead.

Consuming the soul gives up these transposition choices for that cycle unless another copy becomes available in a later New Game cycle. Pick the weapon or miracle that fits your build if you want a unique reward rather than the immediate souls.

What the Nameless King’s lore confirms
The Soul of the Nameless King item description, reproduced by the Dark Souls III Wiki, says: “The Nameless King was once a dragon-slaying god of war, before he sacrificed everything to ally himself with the ancient dragons.” That text supports his history as a dragon-slayer who later allied with dragons.
Whether he is Gwyn’s Firstborn is an interpretation, not an identity confirmed by that item description. Souls Lore’s Nameless King entry presents the connection as a theory, so it should not be treated as settled in-game fact.
