Nasdara’s Badlands are large, dry and deliberately unreliable: the map covers 267 km², wells may be broken, and a marker on an interactive map does not prove that drinkable water exists on your server. The safest approach is to treat water as the first route constraint, then add a medical-loot stop and recognizable landmarks that let you navigate without crossing unnecessary open ground.
The current NasdaraMap layers list 112 possible-water locations, 53 medic locations and 25 landmarks. Those are map-category counts, not guarantees that every water marker is an active well or that every medical building contains a particular item. Use the map to plan and orient, then verify each location in your current game build and server configuration.

What the Nasdara map provides
NasdaraMap is an independent interactive guide for DayZ’s Badlands terrain. It offers satellite and in-game paper-map views, building-type loot layers, possible-water markers, coordinates, a grid, distance measurement and landmark filters. These tools are most useful when combined rather than read as a list of guaranteed spawns.

The official announcement captures the central survival problem: “Water is as precious as your bullets, as neither the land nor the broken down wells will quench your thirst.”

Where the wells and water markers are
How to read the water layer
Open the map’s possible-water category and use it to identify candidate wells or other water opportunities along your route. The layer currently contains 112 locations in the map data. “Possible” is important: the count includes markers that may not be active, drinkable wells in every version, or locations that differ by server settings.
Do not plan a long desert crossing around a single unverified pin. Select one water opportunity before the exposed section, and keep a second marker, settlement or road junction close enough to serve as a fallback. If the first location is dry, damaged or occupied, you need an alternative that does not require retracing the entire crossing.
Practical well-verification routine
- Check the current map layer. Filter for possible water and note the nearest two or three markers, not just the closest one.
- Measure the approach. Use the grid or distance tool to estimate the walk from your spawn, previous town or medical stop. Add extra distance for detours around cliffs, compounds and exposed roads.
- Approach with reserves. Start the crossing with enough drinkable water to survive reaching the next fallback. A marker is not a substitute for water in your inventory.
- Confirm the object in-game. Look for the well or water source at the mapped position and test whether the interaction is available. A map pin that cannot be used on your server should be treated as stale until rechecked.
- Record the result. Keep the working or broken status in mind for later runs and compare it with the current game build. Map data can change independently of server updates.
Why water markers can be wrong
- The interactive map is unofficial and independent of Bohemia Interactive’s authoritative game data.
- The available sources do not publish a version-stamped table of every working well.
- Server configuration and game updates can alter what is usable without changing a third-party marker immediately.
- A marker may describe a possible water location rather than a guaranteed, functioning well.
A beginner guide published in the October 2026 context notes that no official map of working wells, spawn points or respawn timers was available. Treat exact coordinates as operational information to verify, not permanent facts.

Medical-loot locations in towns and settlements
What the medic filter tells you
The current medic layer shows 53 locations. Use it to find hospitals, clinics and other buildings classified for medical loot near a planned water stop. The available map information does not provide a complete, guaranteed item table for each building, so a medic marker identifies a medical-loot location rather than promising antibiotics, bandages or any other specific item.

Choosing a medical stop
For an early run, prefer a medical building that can be reached from a verified or recently checked water source without a long, exposed detour. Cities and bazaars often concentrate civilian supplies, making them efficient resupply targets. They also contain dense buildings, narrow approaches and many close-quarters angles. A short route through a city can therefore be more dangerous than a longer route along a road with clear sightlines.

Medical-route checklist
- Identify the medic marker closest to a water point that you have reason to trust.
- Use building and road layers to choose an approach with cover rather than crossing the largest open space.
- Plan where you will leave if the building is occupied; the nearest road, wall line or named landmark should be visible on the map.
- Search for the supplies you need, then move. Staying in a predictable medical building increases exposure.
- Do not infer a guaranteed item drop from the building category alone.
Which landmarks are safest for navigation?
No source supports calling any Nasdara landmark universally safe. In this context, “safe” should mean easy to recognize and useful for orientation while allowing you to limit exposure. The strongest anchors are large, distinctive structures and connected road features; whether they are safe to visit depends on player activity, sightlines and the value of the loot nearby.
Oil and industrial facilities
Refineries, oil infrastructure and the Nasdar-Beton factory produce large silhouettes that are easier to identify than minor terrain features, especially when heat haze obscures the horizon. They are often linked to roads, so you can use them to correct your bearing without walking directly into the facility. Industrial sites can still attract players and may contain exposed yards, ladders and long sightlines.

Military locations are prominent orientation points and can be spotted from a distance. They are not safe loot stops by default. Their value attracts armed players, while fences, chokepoints and open approaches make mistakes costly. Use an airbase or compound as a compass reference, then route around it unless your equipment and information justify entering.

Cities, bazaars and major roads
Urban areas provide repeated visual references: block layouts, broad streets, bazaars and intersections. Major roads make distance and direction easier to estimate and can connect water and medical stops efficiently. The trade-off is close-quarters combat. Bohemia’s environment description includes farmland housing, small settlements, large villages and cities, with many spaces designed around tight CQB. Keep an exit lane in mind whenever you enter a dense district.
Ruins, towers and named landmarks
Large ruins, towers and named map landmarks are useful when small hills, farm buildings or vegetation blend together. They are best used as intermediate bearings: move from one unmistakable feature to the next instead of navigating by a single distant pin. A landmark’s recognizability does not mean its immediate area is uncontested.
Planning the best water-to-medical route
The best route is not automatically the shortest line. Compare each option on water certainty, medical-loot proximity and exposure or threat level. A longer city-and-road route with two water options can be more survivable than a direct desert crossing that depends on one unverified well.

Three-route decision method
- Start with water. Choose a confirmed or recently verified water opportunity near your current position. If none is verified, select the route with the most fallback markers and avoid committing to the deepest exposed section.
- Add medical loot. Filter for medic locations and choose one that can be reached without losing access to a road, settlement or second water option.
- Rate exposure. Mark open desert, long straight roads, military entrances and dense CQB blocks. Count how many of these the route requires, not just the total distance.
- Select an anchor sequence. Build the run around recognizable features such as a refinery, factory, city edge, road junction or tower. Each anchor should confirm that you are still on course.
- Keep a withdrawal path. Before entering a medical building or urban district, identify the next safe-looking cover line and the route back to water. If you encounter players or a dry well, leave without improvising across the open map.

How to use the interactive map efficiently
Set the right view
Use the satellite view to understand broad terrain, roads and exposed approaches. Switch to the in-game paper-map view when you need a representation closer to what your character can read. Compare both before leaving a town: the satellite view can reveal route geometry, while the paper view helps match in-game landmarks.

Layer only what answers the next decision
Start with possible water, then add medic locations and landmarks. Turning on every category at once can hide the route you are trying to evaluate. Use the distance tool for the next leg rather than measuring an entire expedition whose final direction may change after you verify the first well.
Use coordinates as aids, not proof
Coordinates and grid references make it easier to communicate a location and return to it, but they do not establish that a building contains a particular item or that a well works on every server. Pair a coordinate with a visible description such as “north side of the refinery road” or “clinic beside the bazaar entrance.”

The marked well is broken
Stop treating the marker as the route’s destination. Move to the fallback water point you identified before crossing, preferably along a road or landmark chain. If no fallback exists, retreat to the last known source rather than gambling on an unverified desert crossing.
The medic building has no useful item
A medic category is not an item guarantee. Search the building’s relevant rooms, then continue to the next medical marker or change the route. Keep enough water and food for the extra leg instead of remaining in a predictable building while waiting for a respawn.

The route enters a high-risk compound
Military and industrial landmarks can orient you without requiring an approach through the main gate. Use the feature as a bearing, skirt the perimeter and reconnect with a road or settlement. Enter only when the potential benefit outweighs the known exposure.
Heat haze hides the map reference
Switch to large structures—towers, factory silhouettes, ruins, city edges and road intersections. Check the grid and distance measurement, then move between two anchors rather than trying to identify a minor hill or isolated shed at long range.
What the map cannot currently guarantee
The available evidence does not establish an authoritative, version-stamped list of every working well, exact item drop, respawn timer or permanent coordinate for Nasdara. The 112 water, 53 medic and 25 landmark figures describe the current interactive-map categories, not guaranteed server outcomes. Recheck important markers after a game update, when joining a differently configured server, or when a location behaves differently from the map.
That limitation does not make the map useless. It defines the correct role: use it as a planning and orientation layer, verify critical resources in play, and preserve a fallback whenever the cost of being wrong is a long trip through exposed Badlands.
