When is NBA 2K25 being delisted and when do its servers shut down?
According to 2K Support’s NBA 2K25: Server Sunset notice, the game will no longer be available for purchase as of October 30, 2026. The notice describes NBA 2K25 as discontinued on December 31, 2026, and says online and multiplayer access ends starting January 1, 2027. Those dates describe the purchase cutoff and the later service shutdown, not the same event.

2K’s online-services status page also lists NBA 2K25 as having online-service availability through December 31, 2026. The game launched worldwide on September 6, 2024, according to Take-Two Interactive’s launch announcement.
Can you play NBA 2K25 after the shutdown?
Yes, if you already own the game, 2K says you can still redownload it and play its supported offline modes. The publisher’s notice explicitly says: “If you already own the game, you will still be able to redownload and play offline modes.” Delisting does not, according to that notice, remove the game from existing owners’ libraries.

2K names these offline modes as remaining playable:
- Play Now
- MyNBA
- The W
- MyWNBA
- 2KU/Learn 2K, listed as offline in the service-status table
This is not a promise that every feature within those modes will work indefinitely; the notice distinguishes supported offline play from features that rely on 2K’s servers.

Does MyCAREER work after the servers shut down?
No. 2K states that MyCAREER will no longer be available starting January 1, 2027. That applies even though MyCAREER has a story-focused, solo-play presentation: the publisher’s shutdown notice specifically excludes the mode. MyTEAM will also no longer be available.
2K does not explain whether MyCAREER saves or builds can be preserved, or whether any part of the mode can be accessed through an offline workaround. Its notice does not establish that either is possible, so owners should not count on continuing a MyCAREER save after the cutoff.

Which NBA 2K25 features will stop working?
Starting January 1, 2027, 2K says multiplayer games and online modes will be inaccessible. It also names Online Leagues and community sharing as examples of server-dependent features that will be unavailable. Players will no longer be able to earn Virtual Currency (VC), and MyTEAM will no longer be available.
The practical distinction is whether a mode or feature needs 2K’s online services. Offline modes named by the publisher remain playable; server-dependent activities do not. Buying the game before it is delisted does not preserve access to MyCAREER, MyTEAM, or online features after the service cutoff.

Should you buy NBA 2K25 before it is delisted?
That depends on what you want to play and whether your platform’s edition is still available. NBA 2K25 launched on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, according to Take-Two’s launch announcement. Check the specific platform store for current editions and availability; the purchase cutoff in 2K’s notice is October 30, 2026.
- If your main interest is one of the named offline modes, 2K says those modes remain playable for owners after the shutdown.
- If you want MyCAREER, MyTEAM, multiplayer, Online Leagues, community sharing, or VC earning, those services are scheduled to end at the turn of 2027.
The notice does not say that buying the game before October 30 preserves online access beyond December 31, 2026.
