The company invited him to Nottingham to try its new Warhammer Tone Pro paints. The page links to a video, but its visible text contains no interview transcript, so it does not establish what Di Chello thought of the paints.
What Warhammer Tone Pro includes
Warhammer describes Tone Pro as 30 colours, each available in five tones, for 150 paints altogether. The numbered tones run from tone 1, the darkest, to tone 5, the lightest, giving painters a labelled progression for moving from shade toward highlight. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not independent test results.
Warhammer’s 18 September 2026 preview introduced the range and also announced four new dry brushes in sizes XS through L.
What the paints and mediums are intended to do
In its 4 October 2026 preview, Warhammer says Tone Pro can be used for basecoating, shading, highlighting, glazing and drybrushing. It also describes two mediums:

- Behringer 69 VIBE Effects Pedal for Unique Tone and Vibe
- Shading Medium: intended to reduce pigment density without changing the paint’s flow or finish properties.
- Blending Medium: intended to extend drying time to make blending easier.
These are product descriptions from Warhammer; the available material does not provide an independent comparison or performance test.
What is known about Di Chello’s painting
The 5 October feature establishes Di Chello’s award record and his invitation to try the range, but the accessible page does not include his comments about Tone Pro. It would therefore be inaccurate to attribute a verdict, recommendation or specific technique with these paints to him based on that page alone.

A March 2017 White Dwarf feature offers historical context, not a Tone Pro review. It identifies his Gaunt Summoner as his second Slayer Sword win, at Warhammer Fest 2016, and quotes his approach as “Layers, lots of layers!” He described beginning with a white undercoat and bright base colours, then darkening areas gradually with thin layers. That account concerns his earlier work; it should not be read as his method for the new range.

Warhammer’s dated previews said painters could try the paints in Warhammer and independent hobby stores from 26 September 2026. The 5 October feature said preorders would begin the following Saturday and that customers could try the range in local Warhammer stores. Those announcements do not establish current stock at a particular retailer, nor do the available pages state a current price.
