The reported local unlock was 9 p.m. PDT in Los Angeles that day, or midnight on September 6 in several other regions. These are historical release times; the city-by-city schedule below was reported by IGN’s Vikki Blake on September 2, 2025, rather than published as a full regional timetable by 2K.

IGN’s September 2, 2025 report listed the following standard-access schedule. Times are local to each city; the date changes to September 6 in regions where the listed unlock fell after midnight. Steam had later reported times in London, Tokyo, and Sydney.

Who could play during early access?
2K said early access began Friday, August 29, 2025 at 9 a.m. PDT for buyers of the Superstar or limited Leave No Doubt editions on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Other editions were available worldwide starting September 5.

Platforms and edition availability
At launch, NBA 2K26 was listed for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The U.S.-exclusive WNBA Edition was sold at GameStop for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; the other editions included Standard, Superstar, and Leave No Doubt.
2K’s support FAQ says digital Standard Edition purchases include both console generations within the same family: PS4 and PS5, or Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Physical Standard Edition purchases include a redemption code for the accompanying digital copy. The FAQ also describes a physical Nintendo Switch Standard Edition. Check your regional storefront or retailer for current availability and pricing rather than treating launch-era prices as current offers.

2K says cross-play is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Online console play may require a paid subscription to the platform’s online service and account registration. Requirements can depend on the platform and service.
