Standard Necrozma is weak to Bug-, Ghost-, and Dark-type attacks. The best counter depends on which form is in the raid: Dusk Mane Necrozma also has Fire and Ground weaknesses, while Dawn Wings Necrozma is weak to Ghost and Dark. Check the boss’s name before choosing your team.

Pokémon.com recommends matching both Fast and Charged Attacks to Bug, Ghost, or Dark when fighting standard Necrozma. Its raid guide lists Psychic-type Necrozma and its possible attacks. The official guides for Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings cover their distinct type matchups.
Dawn Wings is especially exposed to Ghost and Dark attacks. Pokémon.com says it takes more damage from these super-effective attacks than most Pokémon. That makes the form a strong attacker against standard Necrozma, even though the fused form is a raid boss with its own distinct weaknesses.
Top counters for standard Necrozma
The following options and moves come from Pokémon GO Hub’s ranking dated June 17, 2026. Its first-place option is Dawn Wings Necrozma itself. Treat this as a guide ranking, not a guaranteed result: the best choice for a raid depends on your available Pokémon, moves, and group.

How to choose a team
- Check the exact raid boss form. Standard Necrozma, Dusk Mane, and Dawn Wings do not share the same weaknesses.
- Match attacks to the listed weaknesses. For standard Necrozma, favor Pokémon with Bug-, Ghost-, or Dark-type attacks. For a fusion form, use that form’s weakness list instead.
- Use the strongest suitable Pokémon you have. The ranking above offers examples, but it does not account for your roster or the size and strength of your lobby.
- Consider survival as well as damage. Necrozma raid guides list different possible boss attacks, including Psychic, Ghost, Steel, Dark, and Dragon attacks; Dusk Mane can also use its signature Steel attack. A counter’s matchup against the boss’s moves can affect how long it stays in the fight.
Raid dates and fusion context
Necrozma raid appearances are time-sensitive, and the available evidence does not establish which raids are live on October 8, 2026. A Pokémon GO notice for the Into the Wild event listed Dusk Mane Necrozma raids on November 12, 2025, and Dawn Wings Necrozma raids on November 14, 2025. Those dates have passed; they are not a current schedule. The event notice said defeating either fusion form could yield an encounter with Necrozma, with Solar Fusion Energy from Dusk Mane raids and Lunar Fusion Energy from Dawn Wings raids.
