NEOWIZ is publishing Shape of Dreams, a PC action roguelite developed by South Korean indie studio Lizard Smoothie. The game combines MOBA-inspired combat with run-based build choices, and its Steam listing gives a release date of September 10, 2025. Players can play solo or join online co-op with up to three friends.
Who develops and publishes Shape of Dreams?
Lizard Smoothie is the developer; NEOWIZ is the publisher. NEOWIZ announced the arrangement on January 17, 2025, describing it as a publishing agreement that brought the game into its portfolio—not an acquisition of the studio. NEOWIZ’s announcement identifies the partnership.
NEOWIZ’s CEO said the company was drawn to the game in part because of Korea’s history with MOBA games. The announcement’s available text attributes the comment to the CEO but does not name the person, so a more specific attribution is not established.
What kind of game is Shape of Dreams?
Shape of Dreams blends hack-and-slash action and MOBA-inspired team combat with roguelite runs. The MOBA influence is in the combat and team-play framing; the roguelite side comes through run-to-run decisions about skills and upgrades. The result is a game built around adapting a character’s setup during a run rather than relying on one unchanged build.

Steam describes nine Lucid Dreams and eight worlds, alongside eight playable Travelers and more than 150 Memories and Essences. These are feature counts on the live store listing and may change. Steam’s Shape of Dreams listing also describes the changing skills and upgrades that shape each run.
Can you play Shape of Dreams solo or with friends?
Yes. Steam lists both solo play and online co-op for up to four players total: you can play alone or invite up to three friends. That lets players approach its team-combat design either as a solo run or as a group, without requiring a full party.

- In this storytelling solo game, the player writes a story in which a character in a dreamworld must complete a specific goal before waking. The player begins by drawing cards to create a randomized character with a starting temperament. Card draws will also determine the goal the character must achieve by the dream's end in order for the player to win.
- Storytelling then begins by drawings cards to create an Encounter. An Encounter consists of 2-4 short prompts as well as a location. All Encounter cards include surreal artwork to help inspire fresh and creative interpretations each game. The player must immediately write about the generated Encounter, including all of the prompts and the location while attempting to move the character closer to their goal.
- Some Encounters will prompt the player to generate an Event. Two cards from the Event deck will determine what is happening as well as the tone. These cards too include surreal artwork for inspiration. Events are resolved in the same manner as Encounters.
- The game continues, with the player drawing and resolving Encounters and Events through storytelling until the character's goal is met.
When did Shape of Dreams come out?
Steam lists September 10, 2025, as the PC release date. NEOWIZ’s Korean-language launch notice is dated September 11, 2025; that is the date of the publisher’s notice, not the Steam release date. The earlier January 2025 announcement concerned the publishing partnership, not the game’s launch.
What was reported about the prologue?
In its January 13, 2025 Korean-language announcement, NEOWIZ reported that the prologue had passed 300,000 downloads within two months. That is a historical figure reported by the publisher about prologue downloads; it is not a current sales total or an independently audited commercial figure.
