What should I do first?
You play as an Appraiser joining Eibon in Hethereau, a city where anomalies can lead to both combat and non-combat encounters. The game combines action battles with exploration and city-life systems, so you do not need to treat every session as a combat grind.
- Follow the opening story and tutorials. They introduce controls and core systems. Use the in-game instructions to learn each feature rather than relying on launch-era character or team advice.
- Explore as new areas and systems open. Check your Exploration Guide missions for discovery goals and specific map tasks.
- Talk to Chiz early. This begins City Tycoon progression, which connects city activities with unlocks and rewards.
- Activate Werithemer Towers when convenient. They establish fast-travel points and can cut down on repeat trips across the city.
- Mix investigations with city activities. Try the activities that interest you; the city-life experience includes storefronts, driving jobs, fishing, racing, and Mahjong.
Events, rewards, and activity costs can change with updates, so use the live game for current requirements rather than treating any fixed checklist or daily routine as permanent.
How does the Esper Cycle work?
Esper Cycle is a gauge-driven team synergy. Use character skills in combat to build the gauge; when the game indicates a cycle is ready, switch to a teammate whose attribute matches the current team state. That switch can trigger an Entry Attack and additional effects tied to team attributes.

For a first team, look at the characters you actually own and can build. A practical starting point is having at least two teammates who can participate in the cycle together. Watch the gauge and on-screen prompt, then make the compatible switch instead of treating every character swap as interchangeable. The available roster and in-game tutorial are better guides than a fixed team recommendation, since character availability and balance can change.
How do I explore Hethereau efficiently?
Exploration is part of progression, not a detour from it. Use the Exploration Guide to find structured discovery objectives, take Anomaly Commissions when available, and investigate anomalies as you encounter them. These activities provide goals for exploring and rewards along the way.
Unlocking Werithemer Towers as you reach them makes it easier to move between areas. When choosing what to do next, combine nearby map objectives or commissions with story progress instead of repeatedly crossing the city for a single task.
City Tycoon is another progression layer: city activities can contribute to unlocks and rewards. Pair its tasks with hobbies or jobs you find enjoyable; there is no need to force every city system into every play session.

Character development has several distinct parts. Character leveling and ascension improve the character; Hunter Guides and materials from progression domains support growth; Arcs are weapons; and Consoles provide equipment options. Consoles include set-effect Cartridges and Modules that let you customize stats.
Hunter Level limits character level, so a character’s growth is connected to account progression. Costs, availability, and optimal equipment choices are version-sensitive; check the current in-game requirements before committing scarce materials.

As a beginner, choose a small working team and prioritize a damage dealer, a support, and a character that helps you survive, based on your own roster and play style. This is a resource-management approach, not a rule imposed by the game. Building fewer characters first can help you avoid spreading upgrade materials too thin while you learn which roles and Esper Cycle combinations suit you.

Perfect World’s official FAQ says progress syncs across Windows PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android when you use the same PWG account. The FAQ lists four separate servers—Asia, America, Europe, and SEA—and says progress is not shared between them. It also warns that signing in through different third-party providers creates separate accounts. Keep track of both the server and the login method you choose.
