Announced on October 14, 2024, it launched worldwide for iOS and Android on August 28, 2025. It is a new story in an alternate Destiny timeline—not a mobile port of Destiny 2.
What is the new Destiny mobile game?
Destiny: Rising is a mobile RPG shooter set in the Destiny universe. NetEase Games developed and published it; Bungie licensed the universe. The story takes place after the Dark Age in an alternate timeline, giving the game a distinct narrative rather than adapting the mainline games directly.
When NetEase announced the game in October 2024, Senior Vice President Ethan Wang said the company was partnering with Bungie to bring a “Destiny-caliber experience” to mobile. Bungie Creative Lead Terry Redfield described it as a new take on the universe created by NetEase’s team. Those comments were part of the announcement, not independent evaluations of the finished game. NetEase’s original announcement outlines the license and setting.
Is Destiny: Rising available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. NetEase announced August 28, 2025 as the global launch date, then said the game was available worldwide for iOS and Android on that date. The official site currently labels it “AVAILABLE NOW” and lists maintenance notes dated September 23, 2026. That indicates recent live-service activity, but does not establish future support plans.
#1 Best Overall
NetEase says the game supports 60 frames per second on a selection of newer mobile devices and 90 frames per second on select devices. Those are publisher statements, not a guarantee for every phone or tablet; device support varies. Check the game’s current store listing and device requirements before installing. NetEase’s launch announcement has the platform and performance details.
How does the mobile game play?
The official descriptions present Destiny: Rising as a shooter with both first-person and third-person views. Players can use touchscreen controls or a compatible controller. NetEase describes a roster of characters with distinct abilities and a mix of solo, cooperative and competitive play.
Rank #2
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
- Story: Campaign missions set in the game’s alternate post-Dark Age timeline.
- Co-op: Strikes for up to six players, plus party and clan features.
- Other modes: Replayable PvE and PvP activities, online multiplayer and shared spaces.
The announcement materials establish these features, but do not provide a full current mode list or a hands-on assessment of how they work in play. Modes and details may change as the live game is updated.
Can you play Destiny: Rising with a controller?
NetEase says the game supports compatible controllers as well as touchscreen play. A mobile gaming controller is optional, not a stated requirement. Before buying one, verify that it works with your phone, operating system and the game; no particular controller model is officially endorsed here.

In July 2025, NetEase reported that Destiny: Rising had reached 5 million pre-orders and said players would receive 10 free draws at launch. These were publisher-reported pre-launch figures and an announced launch reward, not a player count, sales total or independently audited result. NetEase’s launch-date announcement gives that context.
