It was still an unconfirmed rumor at the time, but its references to a robotic dog, a rocket event, and Levolution-style environmental change later overlapped with the official game. That makes the post prescient in hindsight, not a definitive confirmation of every leaked image.
What the “New leaks dropped” post claimed
The May 17, 2021 post titled “New leaks dropped” appeared in the newly formed r/Battlefield6 community, 23 days before EA officially revealed Battlefield 2042 on June 9. It was not an official announcement, however. The thread carried rumor context, and the subreddit’s moderator bot warned readers not to treat the material as genuine until DICE confirmed it.

The post collected links under the heading “ALL LEAKED IMAGES SO FAR.” The linked material included images associated with a rocket, a rocket lifting off, and the remains of a rocket explosion. The author said the files had been shared by a Discord user identified as “hi93048234” in Tom Henderson’s server.
The author also argued that the leak looked more credible because of several unusual filenames—meme.png, sad.png, times.png, no.png, and bucket.png—as well as two frames showing what appeared to be a robotic dog.

Most importantly, the post claimed that Tom Henderson had confirmed the images were authentic. That is a claim made by the Reddit author. The available thread does not establish what Henderson supposedly verified, how he verified it, or whether every image in the post came from the same source. The careful historical description is therefore that the images were reported as confirmed, not independently proven by the Reddit record.
Why the leak looked prescient after the reveal
In hindsight, the post contained several broad ideas that appeared in EA and DICE’s June reveal material. That later overlap is why the thread remains interesting, but it should not be confused with proof that every screenshot was authentic or that the post accurately described the finished game.
| Leak-era material | What appeared later | How strong is the match? |
|---|---|---|
| Images and discussion involving a robotic dog | The reveal showed a four-legged armed drone. The finished game called it Ranger, and players could later pet it in an in-game Easter egg. | Strong broad match. The robot-dog concept clearly survived into the game. |
| Rocket, launch, and rocket-explosion images | The reveal showed a rocket sequence associated with the Orbital map. The event could affect the surrounding battlefield and was discussed as an interactive set piece. | Strong thematic match. It supports the rocket connection, but not the authenticity of every linked image. |
| The phrase “Levolution shall appear…” | Battlefield 2042 featured large environmental events and map-changing action in the series’ established Levolution tradition. | Broad match only. The cryptic slogan was not a technical specification. |
| “Battlefield 6” as the project label | EA officially announced the game as Battlefield 2042. | Correct project family, unconfirmed title. |
The robotic dog was the clearest hit
The post repeatedly drew attention to two frames that appeared to show a robotic dog. The reveal trailer later showed an armed quadrupedal machine operating alongside soldiers. In the released game, that machine was known as Ranger.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteLater coverage also documented a small petting interaction involving Ranger. That matters because it confirms that the robotic-dog idea was not merely an unexplained image or a trailer-only invention. It became a real gameplay object in Battlefield 2042.
There is still an important distinction: the Reddit post did not establish what the robot was supposed to do. A screenshot alone could not tell readers whether it was a vehicle, gadget, AI companion, deployable equipment, or Specialist-related system. EA’s later material—not the leak itself—provided the reliable product-level context.

The rocket images and the Orbital event
The thread specifically linked images involving a rocket, its lift-off, and the aftermath of an explosion. The official reveal later showed a rocket sequence on Orbital, one of the game’s maps. The launch could be interfered with, and the event could change the playable space around it.
This is one of the strongest reasons to regard the post as unusually prescient. The leak did not merely mention generic warfare or a futuristic setting; it circulated imagery that broadly resembled one of the reveal’s most distinctive set pieces.
Even so, “the leak showed a rocket” and “the leak proved the final rocket event” are different claims. The post did not supply a verified chain of custody for the images. It also did not prove that the screenshots were untouched captures from the final build, that they represented a playable event, or that the event would work exactly as later coverage described.
What “Levolution” meant—and what it did not mean
The post ended with a cryptic line attributed to the leaker:
“Levolution shall appear. Levolution shall disappear. Levolution is once only brought by the wizard.”

The wording is memorable but ambiguous. It does not explain which map would change, what would trigger the change, how often it could happen, or whether “wizard” was an internal nickname, a joke, or simply nonsense intended to obscure the information.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Its broad idea did line up with Battlefield 2042’s environmental spectacle. EA described large-scale near-future battles, while the reveal emphasized destructive and map-changing events in the series’ Levolution style. The connection is therefore thematic rather than literal: the slogan should not be quoted as an authoritative description of the game’s mechanics.
What the Reddit thread did not prove
- It did not confirm the final title. “Battlefield 6” was a community label used while the project’s official name was unknown. EA later revealed Battlefield 2042.
- It did not confirm a release date. The eventual worldwide launch date was revised to November 19, 2021, but that information was not available when the Reddit post appeared.
- It did not establish the platforms. EA’s reveal later supplied the official product information.
- It did not explain the gameplay systems. The images could suggest a rocket event or robot companion, but they could not identify the exact mechanics.
- It did not authenticate every image. The claim about Tom Henderson was reported by the post’s author, and the available record does not independently document the scope of any authentication.
- It did not prove that all of the images came from the final game. Broad overlap with reveal material is evidence of prescience, not a complete forensic verification.

What the leak became
The project discussed by the subreddit eventually became Battlefield 2042, a near-future multiplayer shooter with returning Conquest and Breakthrough modes and three distinct multiplayer experiences described by EA. Readers investigating the final game rather than the rumor can look for a current, platform-compatible listing such as Battlefield 2042 PS5; physical availability, edition, price, and compatibility can change by retailer and region.

The “New leaks dropped” thread was not a confirmed announcement of Battlefield 2042. At publication, it was a rumor post containing allegedly leaked images, an unnamed Discord source, a reported authenticity claim, and an intentionally cryptic message about Levolution.
Its reputation comes from what happened afterward. EA’s reveal echoed three of its most distinctive broad signals: the robotic dog, the rocket event, and large-scale environmental change. The finished game’s Ranger and Orbital rocket sequence made those connections even more compelling.
The most accurate conclusion is narrower than “the leak confirmed Battlefield 2042”: the post appears remarkably prescient in hindsight, but it remained unverified until EA’s official reveal—and even then, the reveal confirmed overlapping concepts rather than every image or claim in the Reddit thread.
