The New World: Aeternum preload and server-opening times below were for the October 15, 2024 launch—not an upcoming release. Console preload began October 13; PC owners downloaded the update during October 14 downtime. European and AP Southeast worlds were scheduled to open six hours before US West, US East, and SA East. Amazon Games later delisted the game on January 15, 2026, and announced a permanent server shutdown for January 31, 2027.
New World: Aeternum launch schedule at a glance
Amazon Games published the following schedule for the October 15, 2024 launch. Times are Pacific Time (PT), with the corresponding UTC time shown for clarity. These were scheduled times; the published timetable alone does not establish that every world opened precisely on schedule. Amazon Games’ launch-day update is the primary timing reference.
| Event | Scheduled time | Who or where it applied |
|---|---|---|
| Console preload | October 13, 2024, 12:00 a.m. PT (7:00 a.m. UTC) | Xbox Series X|S globally and PlayStation 5 SIEE |

When did preload start on each platform?
Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5
Xbox Series X|S preload was listed as global, beginning October 13 at 12:00 a.m. PT. PlayStation timing differed by the labels Amazon Games used: SIEE began at that same time, while SIEA and Asia began at 6:00 a.m. PT. The announcement does not define which countries fall under each label, so those categories should not be used to infer an individual country’s store timing.
PC through Steam
Existing PC owners received the Aeternum update during the downtime beginning October 14 at 8:30 p.m. PT. Steam users with Automatic Updates enabled did not need to start the update manually. Otherwise, Amazon Games’ instructions were to open the Steam game library and use the blue Install button. The instructions describe the 2024 launch update, not a new download available today. Amazon Games’ server, cross-play, and update information also covers the Steam update process.
When were the worlds scheduled to open?
Europe and AP Southeast
Worlds in Europe and AP Southeast were scheduled to open at midnight PT on October 15, 2024 (7:00 a.m. UTC). The schedule applied across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
US West, US East, and SA East
Worlds in these regions were scheduled to open at 6:00 a.m. PT on October 15 (1:00 p.m. UTC), also across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That was six hours after the scheduled Europe and AP Southeast opening. For another time zone, convert from the listed UTC time; Amazon Games’ announcement does not provide a country-by-country rollout table.

Why could bonuses appear after servers opened?
Amazon Games scheduled pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses for approximately 4:00 a.m. PT on October 15 (11:00 a.m. UTC), independently of each region’s world opening. As a result, the listed bonus availability time came after the European and AP Southeast opening but before the US West, US East, and SA East opening. That timetable can explain why eligible players might not have seen those items immediately upon entering an earlier-opening world.

At launch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam PC players could play together on the same cross-play world. Characters remained tied to the platform on which they were created. PlayStation-only and Xbox-only worlds did not include cross-play; platform-specific worlds were hidden while cross-play was enabled in settings. These launch rules are documented in Amazon Games’ cross-play and server information.

Is New World: Aeternum still available?
No longer for purchase: Amazon Games’ January 15, 2026 announcement said New World: Aeternum had been delisted and was unavailable to buy as of that date. Existing purchasers could continue playing and reinstall on the platform where they bought it. The company announced January 31, 2027 as the date of permanent server shutdown, and said in-game purchases would end July 20, 2026. These dates reflect the official notice; check it for any later change. Read Amazon Games’ availability and shutdown announcement.
Amazon Games’ server-status page is a changing snapshot, not a future access guarantee or a launch timetable. Its October 7, 2026 snapshot listed regions including US West, US East, SA East, EU Central, and AP Southeast; that dated status should not be treated as a continuing uptime claim.
