How gems affect gear
The official Brimstone Sands release notes describe Runeglass Gems as combining an existing gem effect with an additional power tied to the Ancient Glyph used to craft the Runeglass Gem. The notes say the resulting gem can be slotted into armor or weapon gem slots.

The same 2022 notes state that Glyphstone-provided perks always grant an offensive bonus, even when the Runeglass Gem is applied to armor. That is the rule documented at release; it is not confirmation of the balance or socket rules in the October 2026 build.
Documented Jade and Turquoise effects
The official Season of the Divide release notes list Jade and Turquoise perks as follows. These are the release-note values, not independently verified current-game stats.

How to choose between documented effects
Start with the combat outcome you want, then check whether the effect and its slot are available in your current build. The release notes describe effects, not a universal best-in-slot ranking.
- Want to apply disease: Jade’s Plagued effect is documented as applying a stack on basic attacks and reducing incoming and outgoing healing per stack.
- Want armor penetration: Turquoise’s Penetrating effect is listed as a flat armor-penetration bonus.
- Want disease-duration reduction: Jade’s Plagued Ward is listed as reducing disease duration per armor or trinket with the gem slotted.
- Want the listed armor perk: Turquoise’s Hardened effect is described as adding a physical and elemental armor perk per armor or trinket with the gem slotted.
- Considering Runeglass: Its additional power depends on the Ancient Glyph used to craft it, so compare that extra power with the base effect rather than assuming every Runeglass version behaves alike.
Because the cited perk values come from release notes and a complete current gem list is not established here, verify descriptions in the live game before committing gear or treating a historical value as current.

Why older socketing guides may be out of date
A Steam announcement listing describes a change from one customizable gem socket to as many as four charm sockets, categorized as Gem, Defensive, Offensive, and Skill. The full patch detail and exact live behavior have not been verified, so this is a warning about possible changes—not a reliable step-by-step socketing procedure. Treat older guides based on one customizable socket as potentially stale and use the current in-game interface to confirm what a specific item accepts.

In its January 15, 2026 notice, Amazon Games said New World: Aeternum was delisted that day, in-game currency and other purchases ended July 20, 2026, and servers are scheduled to close January 31, 2027. The notice says players who previously purchased the game can reinstall and play until shutdown; no new content or server merges are planned for the remaining service period, while bug and performance monitoring will continue. Amazon’s exact statement was: “New World: Aeternum will officially be taken offline from all platforms on January 31, 2027.” See the official service announcement. An official server-status page was updated October 7, 2026, but that timestamp does not establish that every region was online at any particular later time.
