How good is the fighting system?
Combat is the strongest reason to consider the sequel. In his November 7, 2023 review, Charlie Wacholz of IGN praised the fighting system and the Slime mechanic, which gives players another way to shape their attacks and decisions. IGN’s summary says Slime adds creativity while remaining approachable for a party-game audience. IGN also singled out the training mode as a strength, making it useful for players who want to learn the game rather than rely only on casual matches. The same review praised rollback netplay, a networking approach intended to make online fighting more responsive. Those launch-period impressions do not establish the quality of today’s matchmaking, player population, or connection to any particular opponent.
Is there enough to do solo?
There are single-player options, but they are a less compelling reason to buy than the fighting itself. IGN described the solo offering as decent but samey, so players who primarily want a varied campaign or a long sequence of distinct single-player challenges should temper expectations. If you expect to spend most of your time fighting friends or playing online, this weakness may matter less.

Is the Nintendo Switch version a good choice?
Nintendo Life viewed the sequel as a meaningful gameplay improvement over the original while flagging polish concerns that included the Switch port. Who should play Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2?
It is a stronger fit for players who enjoy platform-fighting mechanics, want a Nickelodeon crossover, and expect to spend time in multiplayer.
