What is Ninja Gaiden 4?
NINJA GAIDEN 4 launched on October 21, 2025. Its official listings include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam; the Xbox listing also notes Game Pass availability. The Xbox product page names Xbox Game Studios Publishing as publisher and PlatinumGames and Koei Tecmo as developers. Check regional listings for the specific version and current availability.
The story introduces Yakumo, a young ninja of the Raven Clan, and ties his fate to returning series veteran Ryu Hayabusa. Xbox describes the setting as near-future Tokyo facing an ancient threat. The setup gives the sequel two protagonists to connect, but the available information here does not establish how successfully the finished story develops their relationship.
How does its combat compare with earlier Ninja Gaiden games?
PlatinumGames producer and director Yuji Nakao said the team aimed to preserve the series’ established combat while adding more dramatic forms. In a launch-day developer blog, he described the approach this way: “Ultimately, we prioritized maintaining the standard combat mechanics of previous NINJA GAIDEN games while introducing flashy forms that can be used like ‘bombs,’ integrating them naturally into the NINJA GAIDEN combat experience.”

- An endless rain of miasma hangs over a near-future Tokyo in the wake of an ancient enemy’s resurrection. The fate of the city lies in the hands of young ninja prodigy, Yakumo.
Yakumo’s Bloodraven Form is central to the new layer. Nakao describes a cycle involving Obliteration Techniques, the Bloodbind Gauge, Bloodraven Form and Ultimate Guidance. The intent is to build a resource-driven burst of power into the familiar combat structure rather than discard it. Ryu, meanwhile, retains his core moves with usability changes and some additions. These are the developers’ descriptions of the design; they do not by themselves show how satisfying or readable the systems feel in play.
Outside reviewers offer useful but distinct impressions. TechRadar praised the fast combat, weapon and enemy variety, and range of difficulty options. PC Gamer focused on the precision combat demands and the learning it asks of players. Those assessments suggest the game’s combat is a major strength for some reviewers, but they cannot stand in for this writer’s hands-on judgment.

These are publication-specific assessments, not a consensus measurement or evidence of how the game performed in another player’s setup. TechRadar says it reviewed Xbox Series X and PC; PC Gamer disclosed its PC test configuration in its launch review.
Is Ninja Gaiden 4 worth playing?
The available evidence supports a cautiously qualified answer, not a personal verdict: players seeking demanding action may find the combat systems and difficulty range appealing, while players sensitive to platforming interruptions, less memorable environments or a weaker plot should weigh the drawbacks TechRadar reported. The developers’ stated design goals explain what changed and what was preserved, but whether that balance works is a matter for firsthand play.

Official listings identify the platforms and point to a physical-version path, but no current price, stock, or matching regional physical SKU is established here. Confirm the platform and edition on the retailer’s listing before buying.
