During Black Friday 2024, Walmart reportedly offered The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $30 in the U.S.—below Nintendo of America’s separately announced $49.99 promotion at select retailers. Walmart’s physical offer sold out, and the retailer reportedly switched to a $30 digital version. These are expired 2024 prices, not current offers, and the available evidence does not establish an all-time low across every retailer.
How much was Tears of the Kingdom on Black Friday 2024?
Nintendo of America announced a U.S. promotion at $49.99, or $20 off suggested retail price, starting Nov. 24, 2024, at select Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart locations. Nintendo’s announcement set the promotion terms; it did not guarantee stock or an identical checkout price at every store. Nintendo of America’s Black Friday 2024 announcement
Walmart’s separate $30 offer was lower than that announced promotion. GameSpot reported that the physical copy sold out and Walmart then offered a digital version for the same price. A 2024 Black Friday comparison spreadsheet independently lists Walmart at $30 and Target at $39.99, with the listed windows running Nov. 25–Dec. 1 and Nov. 24–30, respectively. Was Walmart’s $30 deal physical or digital?
According to GameSpot, Walmart’s $30 promotion began with a physical copy, which sold out; a digital version was then offered for $30. The distinction matters: the reported continuation was digital, not evidence that physical stock remained available at that price. GameSpot’s report is secondary coverage, while Hip2Save’s spreadsheet provides a separate listing of Walmart at $30 without establishing a complete price history.

Was $30 a record-low price?
The evidence supports calling Walmart’s $30 offer the lowest among the reviewed U.S. Black Friday 2024 offers: it was below Nintendo’s announced $49.99 promotion and Target’s listed $39.99 price. It does not establish a universal record or the lowest price ever across all retailers, dates, and formats. No complete independent U.S. price-history series is established by these reports.
Was the Canadian deal the same?
No. Nintendo of Canada announced a separate promotion at C$64.99, described as $25 off suggested retail price, at select retailers beginning as early as Nov. 21, 2024. Retailer start dates varied, and offers lasted while supplies lasted. That Canadian price is in Canadian dollars and should not be compared directly with the U.S. dollar offers as if they were one promotion. Nintendo of Canada’s announcement

What game was on sale?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is Nintendo’s adventure game set in Hyrule and its skies, and a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Nintendo’s product page lists Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions and says Switch behavior is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2; that compatibility statement alone does not establish a particular performance upgrade.
