What began as a report is now partly confirmed by Nintendo: Star Fox is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25, 2026, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is also announced for Switch 2 in 2026. Nintendo has not given a more specific date for Ocarina of Time.
What Nintendo has confirmed
The March 2026 report, attributed to NateTheHate and VGC, said Nintendo planned a new Star Fox and an Ocarina of Time remake that year. Nintendo subsequently announced both games for Switch 2. The announcements confirm the broad timing and platform, but Nintendo’s own wording—not the original report—sets out what is established about each game.

Star Fox: release date and announced features
Nintendo lists Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 with a release date of June 25, 2026. Nintendo describes it as based on Star Fox 64, with a complete visual overhaul that uses the power and performance of Switch 2. Nintendo’s announcement and the official game page provide the date and details.
The announcement also highlights a new 4-vs-4 battle mode, for teams of up to eight players. Its three objectives include controlling an area, collecting crystals, and retrieving cargo. Nintendo has described these elements, but the cited announcement does not establish further details about the game’s format or modes.

- A cinematic take on the Star Fox 64 story, featuring fully voiced dialogue, an epic orchestral soundtrack, and a complete visual overhaul for the Nintendo Switch 2 system
- Enter first-person mode to experience the action from inside the cockpit, and even use mouse controls to fly
- Invite a second player* to join you as a gunner using Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls
Ocarina of Time: what is known about the Switch 2 release
Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the Nintendo 64 classic returning for a new generation in 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement calls it “reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.” It does not provide a specific release day or month, nor does it detail changes beyond that description. See Nintendo’s announcement.
The original report called it a remake, but the available official announcement does not spell out the extent of any remake or explain how the game will differ from the Nintendo 64 version. “Returning” is Nintendo’s confirmed description; additional technical or gameplay details should not be assumed from the report’s wording.

How the two announcements compare
| Game | Switch 2 timing announced by Nintendo | Nintendo’s description |
|---|---|---|
| Star Fox | June 25, 2026 | Based on Star Fox 64, with a complete visual overhaul; includes a new 4-vs-4 battle mode. |
| The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | 2026; no specific day or month stated in Nintendo’s announcement | The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation, exclusively for Switch 2. |
These are separate games, not competing versions of the same experience. The confirmed distinction is that Star Fox has a dated release and described visual and multiplayer features, while Nintendo has announced Ocarina of Time for 2026 without a more precise date or comparable feature breakdown.
