Nintendo’s September 9, 2026 Direct announced games and related content for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. A recap calls its list “58 games,” but Nintendo’s official pages do not confirm an official total of 58 distinct games—and the announcements include updates, expansions, editions, and related products as well as new games.
Why the “58 games” count needs a caveat
The number comes from recap.games, which labels its coverage “58 games” while grouping the presentation into 33 reveals. Nintendo’s official event page and news release describe a lineup of games and content but do not give a total of 58 distinct games. Another recap numbers more than 58 items, including updates, expansion content, demos, amiibo, and editions. The count therefore depends on what qualifies as a game announcement.

This roundup focuses on the official highlights and distinctions Nintendo establishes, rather than treating every item in a secondary list as a new, standalone game. What else was included in the Direct
Nintendo’s official highlights also include updates or additional content for existing games, while secondary recaps cover older games, remasters, ports, and catalog releases. The Direct also referenced Kirby Air Riders amiibo. Those figures are related products, not games to add to a distinct-title count.
As a result, a useful way to read any list from the presentation is to identify the announcement type first: a new game, an edition or port, an update, an expansion, a demo, or related merchandise. Platform availability also varies by title; the Direct covered both Switch 2 and Switch, so its announcements should not all be described as Switch 2 exclusives.

Nintendo’s official event page and September 9, 2026 news release are the primary references for the announcements and the selected dates above. They do not provide an exhaustive numbered list confirming exactly 58 distinct games. The recap.games figure is best understood as that outlet’s count, not an official Nintendo tally.
