Blind Maze hides the maze’s overhead layout and asks you to find the exit using clues about the walls immediately ahead, left and right. Dmitry Korzhenevskiy submitted the electronic game to Hackaday.io’s Tiny Games Challenge; Hackaday’s coverage appeared on August 29, 2024.
How do you play a maze you can’t see?
You explore one move at a time. Three light indicators report whether walls are directly in front of you or to either side. The left and right buttons turn your orientation in place; they do not move you sideways. A forward press moves you along the corridor, but pressing into a wall triggers a vibration.
That vibration also makes it possible to play without relying on the lights, a capability Korzhenevskiy describes on the Hackaday.io project page. The controls turn orientation into part of the puzzle: a left turn changes which walls count as ahead and to the sides, so you must keep track of both position and direction.
How the maze and its harder modes work
Korzhenevskiy describes each level as a grid of walls and hallways, with coordinates for the starting point and exit. The level format is intended to be straightforward to edit. Players can build a mental map as they explore or draw the route on paper.

Later levels may add teleport squares that connect distant points, making paths loop back on themselves or take on torus- or Möbius-like properties. The project also has a hidden switch that turns off the lights for a more difficult mode; Hackaday says the switch can be reached with a paperclip.
What hardware does Blind Maze use?
The two pages give conflicting names for the controller board, so the installed board in the finished build is not established by these sources. The project’s component list names an Arduino Pro Mini, while Hackaday’s article describes an Arduino Nano. Those are different board names, not interchangeable confirmation of one configuration.

Korzhenevskiy’s project tagline captures the premise: “Find your way out the labyrinth without seeing it from the top.” The game’s design offers several ways to gather information—lights, vibration, and map-making—but the available pages describe the intended experience, not independent accessibility testing or user results.
