Watch the official Nintendo Direct 3.27.2025 – Nintendo Switch replay on YouTube. The live broadcast has ended, so use the replay rather than looking for an upcoming stream. Nintendo’s Direct archive also lists this presentation and later broadcasts.
When was it, and what did it cover?
The presentation aired Thursday, March 27, 2025, and ran for approximately 30 minutes. Nintendo described it as a look at upcoming games for Nintendo Switch. It was not a Switch 2 showcase: Nintendo said that broadcast would contain no new information about Switch 2. The official replay is the primary record of what was shown.
“Switch 1” is informal shorthand for the original Nintendo Switch family, including Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model. Nintendo generally calls the platform Nintendo Switch, not “Switch 1.”

Why was it described as the final Switch 1 Direct?
The timing made the March presentation look like a possible final major Direct focused exclusively on the original Switch: Nintendo had announced Switch 2 and scheduled a separate presentation for April 2, 2025. But “final Switch 1 Direct” was media framing, not an official Nintendo designation.
The two broadcasts had different purposes. Nintendo’s January 16, 2025 announcement set the date for the dedicated Switch 2 Direct; it was not a continuation of the March 27 event.

| Presentation | Date | Focus | Approximate length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Direct – Nintendo Switch | March 27, 2025 | Upcoming games for Nintendo Switch | 30 minutes |
| Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 | April 2, 2025 | Switch 2 hardware, software and features | Approximately 60 minutes |
Nintendo’s official archive now lists later mixed-platform Directs, including a June 9, 2026 presentation covering games for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. So March 27, 2025 was not literally the last Nintendo presentation to feature original-Switch software.
What viewers expected before the show
Before the broadcast, likely subjects included updates on announced Switch games, third-party releases and launch details. BGR’s contemporaneous March 26, 2025 report speculated that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A might appear. Those were expectations, not confirmed items on Nintendo’s schedule; consult the replay for the actual presentation.

Does a game shown for Switch also work on Switch 2?
Not necessarily, and appearing in this Switch-focused Direct does not by itself establish that a game is exclusive to the original console. Nintendo has said the vast majority of Switch games are compatible with Switch 2, but compatibility, enhancements and upgrade options can vary by title and region. Check the specific game’s Nintendo listing for its supported systems and any edition or upgrade details before buying.
