Nintendo has announced a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 for the franchise’s 40th anniversary, arriving October 29, 2026. Despite the word “bundle” in some coverage, the console package does not include a game: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a separate release scheduled for November 5.
What Nintendo revealed
Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition on September 8, 2026, as part of the series’ anniversary celebration. Nintendo describes it as Switch 2 hardware with Zelda-inspired styling; the announcement does not establish performance differences from the standard system. How the anniversary design looks
The system and dock feature Zelda-inspired patterns. The dock has a black-and-gold finish with a Triforce symbol, while the included Joy-Con 2 controllers are green and gold. The console remains a three-mode system for TV, tabletop, and handheld play.

Nintendo’s US listing explicitly says “Game not included.” That means Ocarina of Time is not packed in with the anniversary console.

Nintendo says the first print run of the physical Ocarina of Time game will have textured foil cover art, available while supplies last. This special packaging applies to the separate physical game, not the console package.

Which Zelda-themed accessories are separate
Nintendo also announced Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller products and a carrying case with a screen protector. These are separate anniversary products, not package contents. Nintendo says the Pro Controller version with a display stand is exclusive to Nintendo Store, Nintendo NEW YORK, and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO; check local listings for current availability.
What stays the same about the Switch 2 hardware
Nintendo’s product listing specifies the same core Switch 2 capabilities for this edition: a 7.9-inch 1080p display, up to 4K output at a maximum of 60 fps in compatible games on a compatible TV, and 256 GB of internal storage, some of which is used by the system. Storage can be expanded with microSD Express cards. Nintendo also cautions that some original Nintendo Switch games may not be supported or fully compatible.

The announced edition is therefore a choice about the Zelda design and package, not an advertised hardware-performance upgrade over a standard Switch 2. Nintendo’s US product page is the source for these technical specifications; they should not be taken as a promise that every game or TV setup supports 4K output.

A secondary report puts the US console price at $519.99. Nintendo’s official system listing captured for this announcement did not show a price, so treat that figure as secondary reporting rather than a confirmed price for every region. Check the official store for your country for local pricing and availability; the announcement alone does not establish preorder status or stock.
Other products announced for the anniversary
Nintendo also announced a 1,750-piece LEGO The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Link & Epona display model for spring 2027. Hasbro’s 27-inch Electronic Master Sword, with more than 15 touch- and motion-activated sounds, is also expected in spring 2027. Neither item is included with the console.
