Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard says Brazil is one of the world’s ten leading video game markets and an important market for the company. Nintendo wants to expand its presence and bring Brazilian players more experiences over the coming years, she told Veja. Her comments acknowledge demand for Zelda products and Portuguese localization, but do not set specific investment, restock, or release targets.
What Nintendo says it plans for Brazil
In an October 10, 2026 interview with Veja, Pritchard described Brazil as “incredibly important to Nintendo of America” and said the country ranks among the world’s top 10 video game markets. Those are statements by a Nintendo executive, not an independently verified market ranking.

Pritchard said Nintendo is focused on building the Switch 2 platform with first- and third-party games and supporting the connection between games, players, and fans. The company is excited about the Brazilian community and wants to expand its presence and bring more experiences to the region over the coming years. She also said Nintendo leaders are visiting and learning about Brazil to better support the company’s Latin American team.

What Nintendo said about Zelda demand
Asked about reports of fast-selling physical pre-orders and Zelda accessories, Pritchard said Nintendo was impressed by the reception for the Ocarina of Time remake and understood that fans still wanted the special-edition console and other products. She said the franchise’s 40th anniversary is being celebrated across the year and that Nintendo expects to bring more special-edition product to the region over time.
She did not give a restock date, unit count, retailer, or guarantee that a particular item will be available in Brazil. The comment signals awareness of demand, but is not a promise of an immediate restock.

The remake and Brazilian Portuguese audio
Omelete reports that the Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The report describes it as the first game in the Zelda franchise to include Brazilian Portuguese dubbing. Confirm local edition and availability with a retailer before relying on a listing; the interview does not identify a seller.
In a separate October 9 interview with Omelete at Brasil Game Show 2026, Romina Whitlock, Nintendo of America’s Latin America marketing director, said localization can take years and that timing depends in part on how text-heavy a game is. She said Brazilian voice actors are part of the remake’s localization and that Portuguese audio helps players experience the game fully, not merely buy it.

How broad is Nintendo’s Portuguese localization?
Pritchard told Veja that two-thirds of Nintendo first-party titles released since Switch 2 launched had been localized in Portuguese. This is her reported proportion for that defined group of first-party releases; the interview does not name every game in the count or establish that all future releases will include Brazilian Portuguese. Her answer acknowledged that localization work remains.
Whitlock addressed the recurring fan request for games localized in Brazilian Portuguese, saying: “Não acho que seja um pedido demais ter jogos localizados” (“I don’t think it’s too much to ask for localized games”). She said the work requires long preparation, with the amount and density of text affecting the schedule. The interviews offer no title-by-title localization calendar or rule explaining which future games will receive text, voice, or both.

Earlier Zelda language updates
Nintendo’s 2025 updates added Brazilian Portuguese text to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Omelete reported the free updates would be available starting June 5, 2025, on both Switch and Switch 2. Nintendo of America public relations and events manager Pilar Pueblita described the translations as a way to thank fans and show that Nintendo was listening.
Together, those updates and the remake’s reported dubbing show concrete examples of Portuguese-language support for Zelda. They do not establish that every Nintendo release will receive the same level of localization.
