Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025. Nintendo’s Australian launch-day list names 25 game entries available in stores or on the Nintendo eShop—not 22. The list below preserves Nintendo’s regional scope and includes Switch 2 Editions of earlier Switch games; it does not establish that every title had a physical release. Availability differed by territory.

How to read the launch-game list

Nintendo’s June 5, 2025 Australian announcement described “over 20 titles” and enumerated 25 entries as available in stores or on eShop. That is the clearest English-language launch-day list in the cited official sources, but it is not a universal worldwide count. Nintendo’s separate Japanese launch feature includes a different slate, including Shinepost Be Your Idol! with a June 5 release date. The figures describe regional lists, not a single global catalog. Nintendo Australia’s launch announcement and Nintendo Japan’s launch feature provide the respective examples.

The Australian list counts Switch 2 Editions of games first released on the original Switch, alongside new releases. It identifies store and eShop availability collectively, without specifying a physical format title by title. Check the game’s listing in your territory for format and local release details.

The 25 Australian launch-day entries

  1. Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER
  2. BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster
  3. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
  4. DELTARUNE
  5. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
  6. Fast Fusion
  7. Fortnite
  8. HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition
  9. Hogwarts Legacy
  10. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
  11. Mario Kart World
  12. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
  13. NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Awakening Complete Edition
  14. No Man’s Sky – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  15. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S
  16. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  17. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  18. Sonic X Shadow Generations
  19. Split Fiction
  20. Street Fighter 6
  21. Suikoden I&II HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch 2 Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars
  22. Survival Kids
  23. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  24. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  25. Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut

The count above is the number of entries in Nintendo Australia’s announcement. It should not be relabeled as 22 or treated as a complete list for every country.

What “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” means

Nintendo defines a Switch 2 Edition as a bundle of the original Nintendo Switch game and an upgrade pack that enhances it for Switch 2. Owners of the original game can buy the upgrade pack separately. At launch, eligible Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members who owned the Switch versions of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were offered their respective upgrades at no additional charge, according to Nintendo’s launch announcement. Details and eligibility are described in Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 Edition guide and Nintendo Australia’s launch announcement.

Nintendo also said selected original Switch games could receive free updates, with the content depending on the game. A compatible older game or a free update is not automatically a new Switch 2 launch title.

What the launch announcement says about Switch 2

Nintendo’s June 5, 2025 announcement specified a 7.9-inch built-in LCD with 1080p resolution, 256 GB of storage with some reserved for system use, and Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach magnetically. The dock was described as supporting up to 4K output or 120 fps in supported games on compatible displays; those are maximum supported modes, not a promise that every game or display uses them.

Nintendo also described GameChat for up to 12 people and video chat for up to four with a compatible USB-C camera, sold separately. These are launch-announcement specifications and accessory details, not game-by-game compatibility guarantees. See Nintendo’s launch-day announcement.
