The widely reported midnight plan was Best Buy’s for the console’s original U.S. launch on June 5, 2025—not a new restock in October 2026.
What Best Buy announced for the original launch
Best Buy said that nearly all of its stores would open at midnight for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch on Thursday, June 5, 2025. That was a plan for launch night in 2025, not evidence of a current restock or upcoming midnight opening. Best Buy’s announcement is the relevant notice for that historical event.

Where to check for a Switch 2
Nintendo’s U.S. retailer directory lists Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, GameStop, Target, Walmart and other retailers for Nintendo products, including Nintendo Switch 2. It is a list of retailers, not a live inventory feed, so it does not confirm that a particular store has a console, will offer pickup, or plans a midnight restock. - Look for the standalone console or the specific bundle you want; a listing for one does not establish availability of the other.
- Check whether the retailer shows shipping or local pickup, and verify the status for your location.
- For a late-night store visit, confirm the individual store’s hours and a retailer announcement before travelling.
What Nintendo’s listed bundle offer means
Nintendo’s U.S. retail offers page lists a Nintendo Switch 2–Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle for $529.99 with an availability date of October 22, 2026. Because that date is after October 8, 2026, it is a future-dated offer, not confirmation of stock available now or a midnight restock. The listing does not establish inventory at other retailers. Is a new midnight restock planned?
No named retailer’s current midnight restock plan is established by the available announcements. The retailer the headline refers to is not identified by a confirmed current notice. Treat claims of a scheduled restock as unverified unless the retailer publishes a dated announcement with the stores, timing, and purchase method.
